40 year old male, obese for 15 years. After a couple failed diets and exercise-heavy attempts to lose weight, I tried fasting. I’ve been doing two 36-hour fasts per week since March 2021.Mostly plant-based and time-restricted eating rest of each week (20:4). Parents and extended family thought I was crazy and would kill myself. Dropped from 235 to 170 lbs in 5 months, reversed pre-diabetes, normalized blood pressure, went from 38 waist to 30, and XXL shirts to M. I look and feel at least a decade younger, and now buy clothes because they look good and not because they’re just the only thing that fits. Went shirtless at the beach and pool for the first time since I was a teenager. Fasting completely changed and saved my life, and I will do this for as long as I live. Thank you, Drs. Jamnadas and Fung for sharing this ancient yet somehow controversial wisdom! Update December 2021: now that I’ve hit my target weight range, I’ve been able to maintain my weight loss and energy by fasting just once a week for 36 hours. All other days I fast 16-20 hours on average, except on weekends when I eat breakfast. This feels very easy and sustainable now! My diet is mostly comprised of fat and protein (nuts, eggs, cheese, avocados, greens, fish, seafood). I generally avoid processed foods and stay away from sugar. Haven’t had rice, bread, potato for months, and I don’t miss them. Other foods in moderation such as beans, berries, bananas, corn, coconut. I exercise very moderately during the week - walks, bike rides, a swim or jog. But I consider exercise part of my cardiovascular health plan, not weight loss tool. It is all about the diet. Have faith my friends! The initial weight loss will challenge you, but I’ve learned that keeping the weight off is much easier than I expected, as long as you are willing to let go of some long-standing food habits. There are many keto-friendly foods available now which will help you develop a very satisfying diet for your future.

At 50 years old I had a lot of joint pain it was overweight. I was actually probably overweight enough to be considered borderline obese. Ice started eating one meal a day. Throughout the day I would drink water and unsweetened tea as I cannot drink black Coffee. I’ve lost 30 pounds all the pain in my joints went away I had not felt better since I’ve been in my 20s. I met a man who said I could not eat one meal a day and survive. We got married and I am not kidding you the mental harassment is just too much for a person to endure. So I started eating more and about that time I started going through menopause. I am now 60 I am obese again and I’m still married to this guy. In the last 10 years I have never in my life argued with someone so much about what I eat or don’t eat. Today’s my first day of a three day fast and I kid you not he’s having a cow. I’m just so over it. But I don’t know if it’s my age but I feel so sick and things are starting to go wrong with my body. I know I have high blood pressure and stress really gets that going. And this husband stresses me so much. If I wasn’t a Christian I would’ve stayed married to him this long. God does not give him much leeway for divorce unfortunately. So we continue the battle of wills. I am an old is child and he is a baby that never had children. So often I feel like he treats me like a child. And intellectually He is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I graduated at 17 and Went to college. And during school he was in special ed. When God tells you to be equally yoked it’s not just in religion. If you marry someone that is not even close to as smart as you it’s gonna be very bad. My first husband was a firstborn child and he only had high school education but he was very smart. And we were married 30 years. We got along very good 15 years out of that 30. The first five years were tough getting used to each other. The last 10 were horrible because the doctor had given him Vicodin and he got addicted to it and the doctor just kept giving it to him for 10 years. And that’s what caused our divorce. The last year of our marriage I told him 12 months before divorce you need to get in rehab or a marriage is over. During that last 13 months he never got in rehab. Valentine’s Day he didn’t call me to tell me happy Valentines and he didn’t get me anything which was fine. But when he didn’t call me that was the last straw. And at this point he was staying at work for three days he come home take a shower sleep for two days get up go back to work for three days. So drugs and Dr.’s ruined our 30 year marriage. He had a very addictive personality

I am in the same situation. First, I eliminated processed carbs from my food and because I don't do bread, pasta and like this, my major sin was eating a lot of fruits. Just eliminating this I lost 18 lb, and I start walking 3x50min/week. Now I am on once a day meal. Not hungry at all. Today I will do 40 hrs fast. Hopefully, I will be ready for 72 hrs fast by next week. I have realized 2 big advantages: mental clarity and lost weight.

I live in Chennai, India. I started fasting about 10 yrs ago. Only last year I learnt about Autophagy, and am on OMD. I have a family history of diabetes and death by heart attacks. Mercifully, even though I am 78 now, I am free of any disease. No diabetes, no heart problems (ejection fraction of 83 for the last 8 yrs), no hypertension. I meditate 3 times a day. This lecture confirms that what I am doing is right.

I was told I could never get pregnant again in 2014. I accepted it and moved on. Then I did a 6 week water fast for my renewal wedding in April 2017 and lost 45 lbs-I went from a size 14 to a size 9. I maintained by eating more greens, limiting my carbs, and fasting 24 hours once a week. In Feb of 2018 I found out I was pregnant. A year later, my old friend told me how her doctor told her she could never get pregnant after years of trying. I told her my story. She did hybrid water/juice fasting for 2 months and she found out she was pregnant 2 months after her fast ended. This guy is the TRUTH. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

My skin is healthy, glowing and smooth, i lost about 20lbs already, my hair is beautiful, the hardest part is starting and once u feel how I’m feeling you won’t want to stop, I’m doing it for religious beliefs though, i fast and pray and see prayers being answered before my eyes.

Congratulations to you I can’t wait to also give my testimony. This is soooo hard. I’m on day 3 today😭 Yesterday was worse though I felt so tired and irritable and all I wanted to do was EAT. My brain was literally BEGGING for Starbucks, Tim Hortons and McDonald’s. But somehow I managed to say no. Today I went to a spa because I needed a distraction so I thought if I do something nice for myself I’ll feel better, and I kinda do. I have a food addiction and it’s ruining my life but no one knows because my weight is ‘normal’ but I’m hiding a shameful secret from everyone. I’m trying to fix it because I have the behaviours of a drug addict now and it took me a while to realise but if I don’t change I will mess up all my relationships and potentially lose my job. It’s really rough

As a last resort I was told by a doctor from Sri Lanka to fast so my bowels could slow down. I decided to stop going to the bathroom so the fissure would stop hurting and went to a water fast for 36 hours. After I was finished I had NO fissure pain. I eliminated sugar and bad food and starting eating much less. Well within 7 days the fissure was gone! When I told my surgeon he did a scan and said the fissure was 95% repaired. Has to be about my 8th time watching this lecture, or part of it anyways. This is it! There is no mystery to weight loss. You stop giving the pancreas glucose, the body has no other choice. 18/6 intermittent fasting and keto diet had me drop 33lbs in two months. It's just a matter of trying to break the old habit and start the new one, which I can attest, is brutally difficult. I admit, stress and anxiety had me relapse and return to the weight, but to everybody out there: stick with it, we can do this!

Our bodies are so resilient if we treat them with respect. Western doctors rarely do anything but push more pills, which normally then cause more side effects that require more meds. The gut brain connection is what has brought me to all these videos. They are now thinking upwards of 90% of our serotonin ( what ups our happiness) is made in the gut NOT the brain. So people have been taking pills for depression of "the brain" when really it was more than likely in their gut health

I have ended my 96 hours (4 days) water fasting 2 days ago. I'm 37. Benefits? - from bp 140/90 for 4 years now back to 120/80. - dropped 5kg weight. - right knee pain goes away in day 3. - mental fog no more - before when I set my pomodoro in minute 5 I felt badly sleepy now I did a full 2 1/2 hours from day 2 with ease. - sinuses opened. - my sleep pattern reset from 3/4am-8am to 11pm-5am. I feel sleepy early starting day 3. - test my strength for the first time with 5 secs rest (Plank - 2:15mins, Side planks - 1:30secs/sides, Pushups - 25reps/1set). What I did: - I do water with pinch of salt every 1 liter of water or sometimes every 2 liters. - 10k walking in the morning and evening. - Break my fast with bone broth - no salt or spices. What I will do next? - after 2 weeks of body healing will do an intermittent fasting - 18/6 - I scheduled my calendar for 6 days water fasting again in the next 6 months. I just watched 3 videos of Dr. Pradip and go all in. No excuses. And here it is. Big thank you, @pradipjamnadasmd

I am a 68 year old RN. In February 2021, I had a heart attack and quadruple bypass. I did not recover quickly. I have always walked and swam for exercise, but I knew I was addicted to sugar. At cardiac rehab, they focused on low fat and exercise, but never addressed insulin resistance. Finally, in February 2023, I found Dr Jamnadas talking about the importance of Vit K2. I love his energy and enthusiasm for health. That led me to his information on fasting. Something in me switched. I started cutting out sugar and no more eating snacks and late into the evening. I lost 8 pounds the first month just doing that. My aches and pains started to disappear. Then I began intermittent fasting, eating only Whole Foods and cutting out carbs. In the second month, I lost another 12 lbs doing 18/4 , some 24 hr fasts and 36-3 hr fasts once a week. It is getting easier and I feel great. More energy, no pain in joints. Proud of myself. Wish I had started a long time ago. But this is the way to really get healthy. Thank you Dr Jamnadas!

This is I feel my last chance to save my life as I'm 70 5'9" and 243lbs. I've had breast cancer, I have glaucoma, psoriatic arthritis and addicted to sugar! I started yesterday cutting out sugar and eating whole foods only. Will do that for two weeks and then will start skipping a meal and so on. Thank you again,if I get down in the dumps at anytime I will read your stories and keep watching Dr Jamdamas! 😊

I’ve lost 15 lbs in six weeks since starting intermittent fasting with a few 24 and one 48hr fast in between. I am no longer on BP meds and I owe it all to this newfound way of eating. I’m 60 years old and wish I had known of this much earlier in life.

My oncologist has discouraged me so many times from doing water fasts but everytime I do them my cancer markers go down and my blood work gets better...so, when we give the body rest from food, it does begin to HEAL ITSELF 🙏

I'm on day 1 of my 21-day fast. I recently had these small bumps coming over my body after my period for the past 4 months. At first, I thought it was a heat bump, but I started to discover the pattern. The heat bump comes after five days of my period. It won't go away for about two weeks, and it is very painful. I started to google and found it to be an autoimmune condition called HS. Luckily, my one is not so severe, but it leaves behind scars. So far, I have had it around my armpits and my buttocks. I was completely shattered when I read that it was uncurable. The same day, I found a video about fasting, and some of them posted that they had recovered from autoimmune disease by fasting. Please pray for my recovery, guys ❤.

I’m a 31 year old male that had elevated blood pressure for about 5 years. It stayed around 140/95 weighing 198lbs. I always been in great physical shape but could not understand why my BP was always elevated. I don’t smoke, I eat pretty decent, I do drink but not everyday, and I drink a lot of water. Well, I began a 19:5 fast cycle one month ago, fasting until 12pm; usually breaking my fast, with oatmeal or salad, and I have my big meal around 5pm. In 3 weeks of doing this, I lost 10 lbs and my BP is now 120/75. Fasting has saved me from an early grave.

I did a water fast for 2 full weeks. The best and most valuable time of my life. A friend of mine fasts 40 days with water, then he takes 10 days of recovery/break. Then he starts 40 days of water fasting again. And so on, for years now. His brain tumor was gone during the first fast. All his other health issues went away too progressively. His life balanced at all levels. From a drug addict before, he is now a successful writer.

People who come from ancient civilisations can generally eat more grains, more sugar etc. I am a lot closer to the cave than this fine doctor. This means that I must be a lot more careful and eat more like a caveman. Let's not forget that in India there are families who have been vegetarian for thousands (?) of years. Thank you. I went into heart failure 5 months ago . EF factor 20 percent. Been on standard cocktail of meds. Could not tolerate the beta blockers and diuretics. Finished 3 months of Cardiac Rehab which was a tremendous help to me. I am 70 and a hiker and was shocked I developed a heart condition. I am returning to fasting and hope to be off Entresto and Jardiance both prescribed for heart failure. I am not diabetic, I am thin and considered in good health, at least, I consider myself in good health. My goal is to be off the meds. My conventional cardiologist doesn't agree. Wish me luck. Thank you for your comment.

I am on day six of my ten day water fast. The thing that I do at the end of the day is a sea salt water flush which is two quarts of water with two tablespoons of sea salt. It completely flushes the digestive tract and is impressive how much junk is still coming out on day six! I drink about six quarts or liters of water a day. No hunger or cravings.

I saw this and started fasting immediately. I also started eating mostly low carb. Not a dogmatic thing. I'm 3 weeks in and it's so easy. My body is melting before my eyes. I'll go from 270 to 190 (6'2" male) in no time and it's so easy. All the lies, misinformation and BS is cut right through. You don't even have to go back to "cavemen." That grandfather who ate whatever he wanted and live to 90 did that by NOT eating 12-16 hours a day. He would eat dinner, have coffee for breakfast and go on with his day. It's like when the world rediscovered concrete from Roman times. The answer was already there. Thanks Dr. J.

@@mossgirl28 I do 20/4 schedule Monday through Friday. I generally eat Dinner at 5 pm and then eat a little more around 8 just to get enough food in (about 1,200 -1,500 calories). I find that I can't eat enough food in one meal, because I'm eating low carb which has a very high satiety rate. On the weekends I am very buy and mostly driving in my car so I don't eat at all on the weekends. I skip all food on Saturday and most of Sunday before eating Dinner on Sunday night. That gives me a 5:2 fast for the week. So I'm 20/4 hours with a 5:2 day schedule. It doesn't always work out that way and if I'm just starving and can't take it anymore than I eat. This isn't a religion. It's just a useful eating program. About once every 10 days I have a fully carb day where I eat carbs and pig out all day. Pancakes for breakfast and Mexican food for dinner mostly. Other than that I stick with meat and low sugar vegetables like tomatoes and bell peppers. I often eat Greek yogurt with splenda and lemon zest and juice after eating all the protein and fat. It helps satisfy my sweet tooth during the week. Thanks for asking. Good luck. I'm 27 days into it and couldn't be happier. It's the one diet that I want to do more and more. The more I do it the more I want to do it!

The food industry has nothing to worry about. They have captured pretty much the entire population in this country and also around the world. Notice that countries that had low incidence of heart disease and diabetes such as many eastern Asian countries, now have these diseases since they are eating like Americans. India has some of the highest diabetes rates now, like never before.

I'm also motivated mostly by knowing the mechanics of how what I do will have a certain outcome One example for me was "Dark leafy greens". We are told it is good, but why and how, and how much? When I eat it, I don't notice anything, but I do notice how bad it tastes, so it's natural to think it's not worth it. But once I understood, i stuck with it, and the bad taste is offset by the benefit I know I'm getting. So this is the info about dark leafy greens: the darker the green the more chlorophyll, the photosynthesizing organelle. Choorphyl's central molecule is magnesium. And magnesium is good for us for very good reasons, which I actually forgot lol. I'll have to refresh. But that line of mechanisms really helps me stick to eating healthy, which isn't automatic for me by default.
