Halford had bad health habits around that time, by that point he had likely just woken up. 1988 Halford is a much better era to pick from. His high scream isn't falsetto, in live aid those highs are mixed voice, the lack of cord compression is what creates the power you hear. Eric is a baritone, many can argue Halford is as well. Eric's control of fry is consistent and safe, it's why he's been able to maintain his touring schedule for decades. The first scream Rob does is a bit off key, the second isn't, he's shaking the cobwebs off, and wasn't as conditioned as he was at his best, which is again, arguably 1988. The most obective comparison between the two here is Eric is on pitch. But we aren't using a good indicator of Rob's ability using that performance. There's footage of 1988 Priest, he's in much better shape vocally.
