My birthday is in September and I too will be seventy. I had lymphoma a few years ago and it's gone. My chest was riddled with tumours and they are gone now. I believe that it's the fear that kills us, the trauma that we experience can exacerbate the cancer I cruised through the treatment and you can do it too. Good luck Jose 🐸

Congrats, Jose. My wife had a brain tumor removed at 5 years old. She became paralyzed on her right side and had to re-learn how to walk, and to live life left-handed. Today, at age 62, you'd never know she endured all this. She's perfect in every way. On another note (a musical one), I saw Eric Burdon & The Animals in concert as a 13 year-old in 1967 - and they were electrifying!

I was born in Scandinavia in 1967. In 1985 I took an English lesson. The teacher played this tune on a tape as we could write down the lyrics and our teacher did interpret the song. I never forgot the song but I never bought Eric Burdon's/The Animals' album. About 2010 I did search the song on youtube. I still like the melody and the song and I am still listening. It's 2020.

@@alisonshenton I assume that he liked this song. Weird choice imo but I am just happy for the weird choice. Sometimes 'weird' is good. I know he did performed Wake Up Little Susie. The reason is say weird, well, San Fransican Nights was out of our league. I had barely heard of The Animals, well, only The House of the Rising Sun. Also our teacher, if I'd guess, I'd say conservative. Hard to say. The school year were unforgettable. It is a 'Folkehøyskole'. You may recognize as 'Folk High School' (FHS) the the only aim is to develop individual character for universal humanistic values. We have lots of FHSs in Norway and the Nordic. Socializing and culture activity is essential. My FHS did offer class in agriculture, music, media, sports and outdoor life (hunting, fishing, haiking, camping, skiing, interest in nature etc) and household subject (primarily preparing food). We worked on culture projects. We had theater groups, we sang and played. We had concerts. You may compare to the tv show Fame. The location for my school is at the Russian border. We could see a Russian City from the school. Just a few miles east, and we'd be in Russia. The border is in the midle of The Pasvik River which is just nearby the school. Pasvik FHS had a tradition to end the school year with an annual school trip to /USSR/Russia. So did we in April 1986. You may already know The Chernobyl accident that happened in late April of 1986 just when we were about to head for Russia. We got green light from the Norwegian authorities. We could go on school trip to USSR. We did celebrate May 1st in a parade in St.Petersburg (Leningrad at that time). It was a little rainy and I remember our teachers did small in the air. They claimed they could smell sulfur. I couldn't smell anything. After Leningrad, we flew Aeroflot over Chernobyl and Kyiv to Odesa. Odesa is a harbor. It was city with a disturbing atmosphere. I bet there were sailors from all over the world. One afternoon just before sunset, a man pointed a hand gun at us from his hotel balcony. We were standing at our hotel room balcony one or two floors above. We jumped back and inside our hotel room. Two girls started to cry. We called our teachers. The girls explained but they cried so hard. One teacher looked at me and asked very seriously. - What happened? I said. - It is like the girls say. Someone pointed a hand gun at us. Back from school trip, on the Norwegian/USSR border, representatives from The State's Radiation Service meet us. They could find a little bit radiation on a shoe. Yeah, but all those bums living and crapping in the downtown streets...burglaries and robberies with no consequences...the high taxes and prices...sorry, pal...the SW USA is where it's at. We have California weather with Arizona and Texas justice....the best of both worlds...and low unemployment, no state tax, reasonably priced real estate...last i heard, almost 1,000 ppl from the West Coast move to Phoenix, Santa Fe, Austin, Dallas, and Houston every day, and for the most part leave their mostly liberal politics behind. I been here 55 years and u couldn't pay me to live anywhere else. We get the occasional hurricane and humidity 6 months a year, but it sure beats mudslides and wildfires.

And i even like the whole left n' shoreside of the Bay area 2. (Haven`t been on the right side, but in Sacramento, too btw.). So many gr8 songs & movies about & around THAT city! Beautiful resident in a beautiful city! Just let me add that......Greets from🇩🇪. But tell me, what`s goin' on right now across the US with all those shootings in the last weeks? Even in a hospital. This was from the Shebang music & dance television show that aired on June 24, 1967 hosted by Casey Kasem who introduced them on this episode. Shebang was a 1960s teen music & dance TV show hosted by Casey Kasem. It was broadcast in color from Hollywood, California and, like "Bandstand," artists were invited to perform their latest records. Casey talked with the teenagers in the audience and interviewed the "happening" people of the day. Shebang was broadcast in a limited number of markets from 1965 to 1968. It was filmed at KTLA studios (Los Angeles, CA Channel 5) owned by Gene Autry and was aired on that station as well as a limited syndication in various metro areas around the country and some networks also picked the show up.

I spent 1983 in San Francisco and I thought it was just fine. Very nice feel to it. I had to get used to it at first because I had lived a long time in New York and NY has 10 million people and SF had 100,000 then, so it was lonely until I figured out the good places to go to and all. The weather is perfect ; in the 70s all year long and every night the fog rolls in from Sausalito and chills the city , so you have to wear a sweater or a jacket, even in summer. I love that. Also washes away any pollution so the city is always clean and pretty. I'll always have the memory of San Francisco. I hope it hasnt changed . I wrote a poem back when I was there about the city, which I lost, but I still remember the ending : "As time and hearts beat their soft nocturnal rythms , in San Francisco , at midnight".

52 years ago when I was 13 years old this was the second record I ever purchased...on 45. Waves of warm nostalgia wash over me when I listen to it now. I really don't know why I liked it then but I did and still do.

I was in an Ace Hardware yesterday morning in LA, and not typical of these daze, they had a great OK Boomer music mix, cued up, and while studying all the endless options of how to hang a picture on the wall of my apt. without doing any damage blah blah blah, this came on, and an instant grin came over my face .

Love it! Eric's playful Mexican accent on "San Fran-ceesco" cracks me up. Trust me - Eric didn't have a racist bone in his body!

The fact you had to try and affirm he was not racist pretty much proves he is a racist but you like his music so you have to desperately try and defend him. So typical

I was a H.S.er in Haight Ashbury in 1969. Everything and everyone was there with flowers on their clothes and in their hair. Yosemite was a takeover with Hell's Angels who were friendly and cool. Pot smoke and incense waifed through the valley air every night and Eric Burdon ruled the airwaves.

1967 was THE year in rock and roll history imho. This great song would be followed on the radio by "Light my Fire","Somebody to Love","With a Little Help from my Friends"--and too many others to mention.A peak in creativity never reached again.

The bands fed off each other, new bands heard what was happening and tried to emulate, but not copy what the current sound was.So much great rock and roll that carried into about 1971--plus the softer sounds of Simon and Garfunkle,Bread,The First Edition and instrumentals like "Love is Blue". A bolt of lightning it was.

Wow! My dad, a California native, was in the Army. We drove through San Francisco in 1969 and even thought I was young, I was a hippie at heart and so thrilled to be in the city! I remember passing by people who had long hair and ducking to the floor of the car because I didn't want to be seen with my father, who was "square" and out of touch, because he had just returned from Viet Nam. The fact is, he wasn't so square after all. He took us everywhere, including Haight/Asbury, and all over the world and when he got out of the military, he grew his hair out fast! So cool that you lived there! I love Eric Burdon, too!
