🥀💔 Just heard the sad news today. I was groovin to “If You Change your Mind” (my favorite ) & the Rasberries concert at The House of Blues on YT all this month. Huge loss to the music world, and each of us who’ve been fans for Decades. Condolences to Eric’s family & friends. Eric made such beautiful ballads, yet also powerful rock guitar symphonies all at once. The Raspberries, and Eric’s songs always gave me the chills over the decades since I heard them first come out on the radio. Voices and music of that rare kind of band that lift my spirits no matter what life throws my way. But gotta admit this is the worst part of a being in a rock/melody love affair, when a Muse is called back to Heaven. My heart is broken and I can only be so thankful to have lived & listened to the best bands and singers during the best rock and roll era. Eric and The Raspberries will always be pure gold…you bet I’m listening tonight and for as long as I live. Rock on, Eric.🎸🪽

Oh you are so right about everything in your comment. Particularly your description of the sadness and loss we are struck by when our decades long musical love affairs are called back to Heaven. That’s exactly how feel as if a long lasting love has died. It’s been 3 weeks now since the world lost this immensely talented and unique genious. I’ve had such difficulties explaining to people why I’m still crying about the death of a man I’ve never met. Only true Eric Carmen fans among my family and friends get it. So thanks for your words about the loss of a musical love affair. I’ll steal them and use them to explain this sadness all we fans are struck by

This guy is a musical genius. Eric along with the Raspberries played at my senior prom in 1971 in Cleveland, Ohio. Awesome performance then and still listening today.

In my opinion absolutely no one can sing any of Eric Carmens songs better than Eric Carmen himself. He was a real genious. He did it all with outstanding talent: Compose, sing, play, arrange, orchestrate - mix it all and you have musical brilliance as only Eric Carmen could. Remove him from even only one part of the mix and it’s just not the same. I never liked Hungry Eyes. He sings it beautifully, of course. But That’s just it. He only sings it. I didn’t know until recently that Eric Carmen neither composed nor played any instruments nor arranged it. Had it been sung by anyone else and not been in “Dirty Dancing” I’m sure Hungry Eyes was Long forgotten.

@@Vagresta wow I didn’t think anyone saw this. Eric and I have been writing music since we we were in junior high Memorial junior high then brush then Cleveland State University. We started band at finally ended up as the raspberries and I went to medical school and he carried on with the love of his life, his music. It still hasn’t sunken in that he died on my birthday . so ironic in a way. Before raspberries. we told ourselves we could be better than Simon & Garfunkel just the two of us well that thought didn’t last very long. I went to medical school and he went to fulfill a dream . On the nights and early mornings that Eric was recording WinterDreams, he would do a couple cuts of a tune and we would go outside in my car and put it in the CD player to see what it sounded like. You never forget things like that. he was so meticulous and actually quite a riot to be with. We laughed a lot together. Tom H
