I was a really good kid so my parents did not discipline me, I also never had chores. The only discipline that I got from my family was this one time when I was little and accidentally turned off the PC and I did not yet fully grasp the difference between doing something on purpose or on accident, so I said I did it on purpose when I ment accident, from that I got like a light short spanking. Other than that the only thing else I could think of is maybe getting my hand very lightly slapped when I was real little, but I only say this because this is what was done with my little nephew, but also then again I was a really good kid so even that probably barely happened. The most discipline I ever really got growing up was at school either a paddling during elementary or detention in middle and high school, also I have been to ISS (In School Suspension) before, and despite all that my family was either on my side/didn't care. BTW I don't believe in physcial discipline of any sort be it from parent or school or whatever I don't believe in it whatsoever. Edit: I also want to add that I did not have time-outs nor did I ever get grounded

Can confirm. Military fathers speak belt. Thankfully, I only caught it about once a year, with my report card. Otherwise I wasn't a big trouble maker. My older brother on the other hand... 🙄

Dad was belt and mom was spanking stick. My older brother around age 30 came over to the house and started bragging about all the stuff he got away with and my mother bent him over the table and broke the spanking stick over his ass proclaiming, "You didn't get away with shit"

@@dash.reacts Very interesting! There's alot of study being done these days on your type of childhood development, as you may know; people who grow up partly or wholly in cultures that aren't their parents' cultures, and - or people who move often in their developmental years. They give you the moniker 'Third Culture Individuals', not truly part of your parents' culture, nor the culture you lived in as children, but the combination of the two creates a third culture which is separate from your parents' mono-culturalism. How long did you live in Germany, and where else did you live in The States during your dad's station changes, if I may ask? Very interesting!

timeouts and other forms of non-corporal punishment can be effective if you are consistent with them. If you let things go and make exceptions, that's where the disciplinary problems happen.

So non corporal works for kids who aren't add or ADHD because they lose focus easily. However treating kids with understanding works if they can process information appropriately.

@@dash.reacts because I was diagnosed add, corporal did not work, some kids who arent ADD need it because they'll follow the discipline better because they can focus.

Hmm. That makes a lot of sense tbh. I never got in trouble except for like a few times but I wasn't spanked or anything probably due to the disability I have. It's not mental more like a physical disability.

The most effective parenting, is with the belt and the broom’s tail … i’m 28 yrs old and when i was a kid, i used to make an armor from my notebooks under the clothes so it wouldn’t hurt that much for when my parents found out what stupid things i did
