You've got to check out the Derek & The Dominos jam sessions. It's Eric playing with different mixtures of his bandmates and the Allman Brothers Band. Mind blowing stuff.

Absolutely. Derek and the Dominoes . Layla and other assorted love songs. Double lps.ive seen him 4 times and each time was perfect. He walks in place and it's on for around 20 to 30 minutes. Hes older with some ailments but I would still go to his concert. Much musical respect to EC

This during the Derek and The Dominos era...he collaborated with Duane Allman (playing slide guitar ) of The Allman Brothers Band on this project. They only recorded one album together but it's a classic and should be listened to in it's entirety.

Eric has an all-blues covers album 'From the Cradle' (1994) that is outstanding. His acoustic live album "Unplugged" (1992) is exceptional.

OLD LOVE - That song is a killer...deep, deep blues (like this one). Eric can play and sing with the best ever. Two songs you'd love off his 'PILGRIM' album would be 'RIVER OF TEARS' (a masterpiece) and the title cut 'PILGRIM'

It's a survivor! Great friend of Jimi Hendrix! He played with all the guitar heroes on earth! They all respected him! Still touring! Yes, a real legend! But, you should listen to more live version of him in the 70's,it's my favourite period, he was really feeling bad, so he was playing the blues perfectly! Listen to Have you ever loved a woman, from the Crossroads live album, 1973 i think..... It makes me cry! Peace from France bro ✌️

Bobby Whitlock trashed Allman in his autobiography, saying Duane wasn't that great, couldn't make his guitar sing. Wow. Eric loved the guy. Whitlock a little jealous maybe?
@John_Chu3 жыл бұрын
A lot of people think Whitlock, since he was the nominal keyboardist in the band, played the lovely piano interlude in Layla but it was actually Jim Gordon, the drummer. That's like Ringo playing the organ part on Let It Be instead of Billy Preston.
@lathedauphinot68203 жыл бұрын
@@John_Chu Jim Gordon, who was given co-songwriting credit for the piano part, actually stole the part from his girlfriend Rita Coolidge. He played it on “Layla”, and then engineer Tom Dowd asked Bobby Whitlock to put another piano track over it, saying Gordon’s sounded a little flat, so in fact they both played it on the released song.

This was originally part of the album 'Layla & Other Love Songs' by Derek and the Dominos. The album is definitely full of love songs but they're all about tortured love; love that rips a man's soul apart. This was one of the best with Eric Clapton and Duane Allman trading solos.

Ahh. The Layla sessions. Nice. Play a couple more from that album. I always said it would be one of the three albums I would want if I was stranded on an island. The other two would be Allman Brothers at Fillmore East and maybe Waiting for Columbus by Little Feet. I could easily pick Eat A Peach.
