Truly a superb guitarist! He may not be the fastest but he is plenty fast enough, and his artistry is superb. He makes beautiful music whether he plays fast or slow. Every note counts. I saw him perform in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Afterward, my Brother-in-law said that, from that night onward, we would be able to say that we had seen and heard Eric Clapton at his best and, if someone asked, "When, in the Late Sixties?" we would be able to reply, " No, in Clapton's late sixties." Rock on, EC! Rock On!

And agree so much.With Clapton its quality over quantity, but when he wants to go fast, he can and still hits the notes perfectly..Like in above.Thats like the cream of the crop for me to listen to of him, so many times i couldnt even guess lol.He goes to another dimension here.After this, the debaten of whos the greatest ended for me lol Game over lol

Beyond Eric's qualities we all know since decades , everybody who knows the "theme" feels the passion, the pain , the weight of love .......every thought I've about love starts with Eric's "Old Love " and the first 3 tone's of it . Now I've even the add this solo ! The screaming of a soul , the longing of our hearts .........the yearning to connect ...to find ourselves always alone .....

Cada show tem uma versão esta canção, mas para eu a melhor de todas é a do show de 1996, no Hyde Hildon Park, dela pra cá só novas roupagens.Sou Samuel, aqui da zona leste de São Paulo, no Brasil. Hoje é 5 de outubro de 2022, quarta-feira. Creio que na versão de 1996, o Eric não saiba tocar mais, só se ver o vídeo.

Very solid solo for 66 years of age. His playing evolved, he takes now much more into consideration what base tone the chord is using. This way it sounds more melodic, more detailed. Nowadays, with 66, Eric would probably "win" against Hendrix. What do you think?

I can't speak tot he Hendrix comparison, but I agree that Eric's playing has evolved. In his Cream days it was mostly gestural. He played riffs he had learned and weaved them together. Now he makes a lot of his own melodies that harmonize beautiful with the chord, though there are still plenty of blues stock phrases...
