It was because he was slow at changing strings if he snapped one during a performance. It was during his time with the Yardbirds .

Good thought there and good way to put it "loving technique" on those slower bits, as well as the beginning of the solo during I Shot the Sheriff before he goes Fasthand

O M G Eric I love the sharp look you had at the time❤ "Slowhand"―When I first heard this word, I thought that it sounds really beautiful and enchanting. The thing is, your hand movements while playing the guitar are graceful❤❤❤ There's no one like you, you're one and only. BTW, Eric I love all your songs, so 'Bad Love' 's #1 for me.

I always figured it was because it looks like he's barely moving that left hand when there's a lot of sound coming out of that guitar. That handle is definitely one of my Inspirations to play the guitar. Erics music spread across the world when it was truly possible and meant the most at that time. The peak of real, good, talented popular music was mid 90s. The fact that its still listened to MORE than todays whatever it is, means something to the music loving community. I can't say all music that ends up popular in the future is going to be trash, I haven't even put my own first album out yet. But I can tell you that a lot of today's noise can't hold water to the music of yesterday. Especially from an artist who played with the Beatles on a regular basis

I had always heard and read that the title was given by John Mayall. It was good hearing the real skinny from E.C. himself.

Bonjour, Sir Eric❤. Il me semble que "slowhand" est en effet le jeu de mot. Car votre jeu est très "rapide". Merci que vous êtes là. With love❤🙏✌️

Wow even Clapton doesn't remember the origin of that what I read somewhere is that when Clapton broke a string on stage he would be slow at putting the string on and then they called him slowhand
@mairyhuff7102Ай бұрын
Ive read loads of times that he got the name because in his early performing days hed stop playing if he broke a string on stage until he replaced it instaed of having a backup guitar
@JumpingJackFlash1989Ай бұрын
In his Autobiography he attributes it to his days in the Bluesbreakers. John Mayall apparently called him Slowhand because he was constantly breaking strings on stage and would have to restring it himself. Probably weren't too many guitar techs in that band 😅
