This is my absolute favorite version of this song recorded. When Clapton and Crow, or Clapton and Sanborn played together in the 90s and early 2000s, it was absolute magic.

I’ve heard a sad news of David Who passed away,I’ve been watching this performance again and again. After the passionate saxophone play ,Sheryl claps her hands and smile and David shows big smile and Eric and Sheryl smile back,such a beautiful moment brings tears to my eyes. RIP David

I totally love the part at 3:47 where Sanborn finishes his crazy solo and as he looks sort of light headed, Clapton smiles at him. As a musician, I can tell this is the moment you hope for in great music. If I had been lucky enough to play in this band I would have been complete. Rock On and Peace!

Sanborn and Clapton were so great together...Roger Waters' first solo album, then the Lethal Weapon movies, and other countless collaborations. They elevated each others' game. RIP David Sanborn.

What I love about this is the spontaneity; you can see that Eric is stepping up to do a solo, but Sanborn is feeling it and just keeps playing, and they all adjust and enjoy the moment.
So glad to see so many good comments about David Alto saxophone Sanborn 🎷 so many of us saxophone players owe this man a debt that can only be repaid by continuing to perfect the craft. RIP Mr David Alto sax Sanborn

Sanborn is an angel. Closes his eyes, flies on his cloud, produces a miracle leaving Clapton speechless, then he comes back to earth, opens his eyes and has no idea what happened. And the bastard makes me cry of joy. Inhumane

I've been a David Sanborn fan since I was around 10 or so and started playing the saxophone in 4th grade. I'll admit I'm biased. The coolest part of this video is seeing all the other artists react to his solo. After all, I'm usually acting like they are when I get to see him live. Nice to know I'm not the only one that gets blown away by his playing.

Yeah, I got to see good old David sanborn in jazz alley with my grandpa when I was 12. Now I'm 14 and I'm trying to learn the dream, but just can't hit the altissimo g. I'm also in jazz band, so I love any kind of jazz. I strongly believe David sanborn should be up there with cannonball adderley and Phil woods.

This just melts my heart... I've been a Clapton fan for about 3½yrs now and have known this performance ever since. He's the reason I fell in love with a *_lot_* of different artists & genres. Definitely played the messenger's role in my life that he strives to play. Most importantly, he made me fall in love with guitar & music. Forever grateful to you, Mr. Clapton! ❤

In case anyone is interested, David Sanborn has played on at least one other version of "Little Wing" before. It was in 1974 when he was playing (alto sax) for the Gil Evans Orchestra when they recorded an album of Jimi Hendrix songs. Perhaps David Sanborn had that in mind when he was playing here?

Murdering a great Hendrix piece. Terrible cacophonous overkill. Listen to the subtlety of the origional.
As Sanborn is in the row, Clapton again again and again is crushing down David with only his volume button. I've seen this soo often, Clapton is not aible to accept an equivalent fighter on stage. Sanborn nearly blows out his soul, Clapton only needs a small turn to maximum volume and blows Sanborn into hell. What a f***ing Clapton-show!!! He is a good blues-business man, but on stage he's an ash.....le.
@johnsantore2586 жыл бұрын
Clapton should have just shut up and let David do his thing. This double solo stuff never works for me. Eric knows better.

Go FACK yourself and stop turning this show to your stupidity cause you fuck has no knowledge about music and don’t know who is Eric Patrick Clapton
@goranivancevic74562 жыл бұрын
Sooo not true, I can understand you r not an EC fan, but what you said just isn’t true. He always lets others shine on stage, weather it is another guitarist or any other musician, have you not seen him with: B.B.King, Mark Knopfler, George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Jef Beck, Dereck Trucks, and many many others, he always knows when to lay back and when to kick in and he always provides space for others, the perfect wingman. He is not my favorite guitarist but he truly is great
@goranivancevic74562 жыл бұрын
And one more thing playing music and sharing the stage with someone is not fighting and they are not fighters, if you are not a musician I can understand that you don’t get it, but playing in a band is about complementing each other, being in a unison and creating something together, definitely not competing and never fighting. It is a common misconception that only non musicians think like that actually

Wow, this is horrible! Especially the sax/guitar solo part is disgusting with none of them even remotely listening to what the other is playing. But well, as much as Mr. Clapton has his role in the history of the electric guitar, all his recent stuff (and with that I mean practically everything he's done since the 80s or so) is mediocre at best. At least when it comes to his guitar playing.

EC is soloing over rhe chord progression and Sanborn is playng it a bit jazzy and out of the box, it actually sound awesome. And saying Clapton’s guitar playing after the 80’s is mediocre is BS. Have u tried to play some of his solos from that period till now, his timing and when he starts his licks and how he ends them is definitely not mediocre. But ah well everyone is alowed to have an oppinion.
