This wasn’t a bad call, it was a horrible missed call. And yes he’s right that the receiver wasn’t guaranteed to catch or even get a touchdown but the corner didn’t even attempt to make a play on the ball and basically tackled the receiver. He even hit him helmet to helmet. That missed call gave the Rams the win. That call gets made and the saints win, guaranteed.

Guaranteed how? There are no botched snaps or handoffs or strips that lead to turn overs? Nothing is guaranteed. To say it would have been this way or that is all just imagination and make believe. Them turning the ball over the very next play and losing it in regulation is just as likely as them scorning a TD and burning the clock enough for the Rams to not get anything in return. Saints had plenty of chances to win that game and didn't.

It was the most terrible no call I agree. As a high school football ball coach I can tell you there is P.I. on every pass play just like there is holding on every run play. We are just at the mercy of the refs to call it. Maybe they will start to use the CFL’s rule to challenge pass interference. Should be fined for helmet to helmet. Honestly he should have played the ball because it didn’t get there until after he knocked down the receiver. He probably could intercepted the ball.

we can do “what if’s” about missed calls throughout every game in NFL history, and yes, the missed pass interference call was especially egregious(the missed facemask on Goff was bad as well and would’ve set up a Rams touchdown, although admittedly not as bad). but what it came down to was, the Saints had the ball in overtime, Drew Brees panicked when he was rushed and threw an interception, Michael Thomas didn’t realize it was tipped so he cried for a pass interference call, and the Rams offense made some great plays to get Legatron into FG range. stop saying the refs are the reason the Rams won.

We could have ran the ball 3 times after that and ran the clock down, kicked a field goal and given the ball to the Rams with 30 seconds or less while they have no timeouts. And that's to say that there would even be that much time left after running the clock down. The odds of the Saints winning the game off of that PI call were extremely high. Everyone who says otherwise is trying to make excuses for the NFL and the terrible officiating. There should be rules in place for New York to review a play like that in the last two minutes of a playoff game.

First things first, yes that was a terrible no call... Yeah im a Rams fan, so gotta admit that bad no call... Now 1. The db should intercepted it and gone to the house with it if he plays the ball, 2. The Rams D Line is special, as we know the Giants have 2 rings off Brady because of their D Line so i expect the Rams have a really good shot and 3. I feel for the Saints because i really like Drew Brees and wanted him to get the ring last year but offensively the Saints were bad in both second halfs against the Rams this year and this game it bit in the rear at the end

Let's look at the game a slightly different way. If the Rams got the facemask penalty, they would have 1st and goal on what? Like the 2 yd line? Chances are that either Anderson or Gurley would've punched it in to make it 24-20. Regardless, the Saints would've still had a chance to win the game if they got the PI call because they too would've had the ball on a 1st and goal inside the 5. Facemask or not, that missed PI call completely changed the complexion of those final few minutes. With that being said, the Saints failed to capitalize with two early redzone drives in the game. They left 8 points off the board. This game could've easily been 21-0 or 17-0 had they gotten into the endzone just once in those two redzone drives.

What I’m getting out of all these comments is they didn’t need to play the first 58 mins because that one missed call was the reason they lost. I love how Dickerson changed the argument from "What would have happened if the refs called the penalty?" to "Yeah, well there's no guarantee the receiver would make the catch anyway, no guaranteed FG, etc.) If the refs call the penalty, the Saints get the ball at the spot of the foul, putting them well within FG range, and the Saints specifically at an 83.3 FG% make it no questions asked, putting them in the lead and ultimately winning the game. That call 100% determined the winner. Oh yeah, and that ref that was recorded sternly telling that ref to not throw the flag makes it all the more suspicious. Rams get an * next to their name in the Super Bowl this year, because everybody, including many Rams players agree they don't belong there
