I have the same one in Black, wonderful Custom Shop E Johnson Strat, ive had mine since 2008, its my Go To strat for the past 16 years!! The Quarter Sawn Neck is the best feature i believe and the Heavy duty Tremolo Mine is Signed on the Inside of the Pickguard. The Case is very nice as well

Well….I’m gonna go play my Strat today….your tone is killer….in the fact that you can hear every note clear with just the right amount of gain and delay 😎 a lot of players these days add way to much distortion and delay and the notes get lost….your videos rock !

Beautiful instrument. It reminds me of the '58, 3 tone sunburst Strat EJ used on the '88 Austin City Limits when he played Hendrix' "Love or Confusion" on it. I was shocked he got it to stay in tune with all the crazy stuff he was doing with the tremelo on that tune.

I thought the Eric Johnson sunburst models had Ash wood. Am I misremembering that?

Beautiful quarter sawn Maple neck..That was also one of Eric's required details.. Most 50s era necks were all quarter sawn for stability and it gave those tiny speckled disc rays figure that you sometimes see on the edge of the neck when it is plain sawn.

Respectfully- most vintage fenders (teles and strats) had flat sawn necks. I do believe EJ prefers the stability and tone of quarter sawn, but it’s not reflective of the majority vintage Fenders.

They came out in 2005 not 2006 I have a 2005 EJ Stratocaster and the paperwork says it’s a 2005 maybe the wildwood version came out in 2006

you have a lot of delay happening which i like ,, but whats the signal chain ? ,, amp and pedals ? , sounds great man .

AX FX8 with delay in pro tools. I usually set 15-20 % mix. 385ms left 700ms right. Give it take. And like 25% mix.

It really is pretty sticky being all glossy. I’d sand it down but I don’t want to mess with this particular model since it’s an EJ!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I used Dr.Ducks Ax Wax on my EJ Thinline and that solved the issue. no sanding needed.

I own 6 EJ Strats. And a first year candy apple red signed by EJ himself. Absolutely love them over my custom shop Strats.

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker to me it’s a mixture of things. The radius fits my hands. The neck shape is my absolute favorite. And the rosewood EJ is my number one. Something about that guitar is magic to me. I think they did some tweaking on the bridge pup for the rosewood and it sounds completely different from the other. My least favorite pups are in the EJ Thinline. Not bad but I replaced the bridge pup and it sounds fine now. Virginia is still growing on me I got that two months ago. Also I’ve noticed the new EJ’s need about a solid year before the lacquer completely hardens to where it’s not sticky. Sometimes I just hang them and let them age. I know it sounds crazy. I’m not as great of a player as you hope one day!! Thanks for asking.

@@BossHossStudios I love EJ. And my EJ Strat. However… I have an American Pro II that I hate to admit… I like better! I never thought I’d say that. But much like you, it has something to do with the way the neck feels and man the pickups are just gorgeous. But it’s a tough call really. Both are superb.
