Miles & Prince at dinner- "These are 2 guys whose individual egos could suck the air outta the room... and they absolutely adored each other" - Eric Leeds This is the stuff of legend told by an Icon himself. The entire interview -all parts- are sprinkled throughout with these gems. It doesn't get any better than this. Thank you Michael for facilitating THE Masterclass

I really enjoy this series of interviews with Eric. He is so sincere and down to earthas well as honest with his introspective on what it was was like working for and with Prince.

A great interview of the master Eric Leeds. This is by far the best podcast about prince out there.

21:06 it’s so very exciting that next month we will finally get to see that full unedited concert in all it’s glory December 31, 1987 Miles Davis/Prince show!

Wow! Much respect to Eric Leeds and his very insightful explanation that Prince was the conductor genius. I really have a greater appreciation for Prince as a creator of great art after listening to this. Truly amazing interview!

I never looked at it like Prince would try and throw Miles off..both were genius talent so I’m sure whatever Prince could hv imagined to throw out Miles could throw it back out on a whole other level. Great interview. Cool cat.

YenKeta exactly what I was thinking! Prince was not insecure and would never purposely do something that might risk embarrassing someone of Miles stature and risk ruining the piece of music they were playing. Like Eric said, there was respect and also a littler playful arrogance bout who might be better!👍🏽

Eric Leeds was magical with prince. Like they were meant to play together

Trevis Austin I completely agree! The chemistry was on point! I love how giving Prince was to up and coming artists and musicians. He took risks that would make him a pioneer.

Everybody pause right now!! Isn't this, at 0:09, the sickest, the most dope intro music for a Podcast?? I don't see NOBODY mentioning this is in the comments. THAT SHIT IS FIRE MAN!! Am I really the only one feelin' that shit? Damn.
Part 2 came 48 hours after Part 1, but we had to wait a whole week for Part 3!?! Man, I was going through withdrawals, but it was so worth the wait! I will be patiently waiting for Part 4.

Hi 5 to the dudes that put this and similar podcasts together. This stuff is amazing! From a musicians/production perspective that never got to work or be around the magic, these are brilliant & insightful. Eric is a class act but I can’t get Alan’s face out of my head when he speaks. He sounds just like Alan. This cat is well spoken and has a wealth of knowledge on music. Big ups! I forgot to add. Thank you Eric for your time and these stories. I loved all of these 4 podcasts. I’d buy that book Eric, before I’d buy any gf or wife’s perspective on paper. It was always about the music.

Eric could write several books on his career. Most of them would include Prince and the other musical icons. Dang...

I think it says SO MUCH about ERIC'S INTEGRITY, as a Man...that he could b himself...he joined Prince...he had Big Fun, then - - it was time to move on. He KNEW himself. I think that was just Great!!! A Musician's musician!
@domininic Жыл бұрын
prince definitely looked out for individuals... case in point for eric, i know he mentions how p could've got brecker or sanborn for a session, but he was more interested in working with players he could develop for the long ride. working with 'lesser known' musicians definitely gave p some leeway. he seemed more interested in working with musicians who will bring something to the table in the long run, almost devotionally, and not just sit in on one session
