ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas.
After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his
dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a
production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion
shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap,
L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.

Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man.
He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to
his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service.
After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his
life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality
was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count
everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences
helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally,
and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary
importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and
homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths
that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and
joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of
Arts in Theology.

His recollection about Greeks’ preoccupation with “being” Greek resonated with me as a Black guy. Within the past few years that’s been the feeling among Blacks, outside of Christianity, Blacks see “being” Black as a full-time job that comes before everything else. I'm reading Eric's book Amazing Grace and I realized how humble he is. He is an excellent writer but when he speaks, he speaks plainly, which I really appreciate. The power of God when Beckett knew at the time of conversion that he was going to be celibate. He was still young, and I love that this was an easy decision because of the love of Jesus. Also, Eric wrote that Bonhoefer book??? I'm impressed, I've seen that book everywhere and wanted to buy it.

Btw, Eric's biography of Luther is a must-read, as it's the most thoroughly researched and insightful one available. It has helped shed yet some more light on that fascinating but tragic period we call the Reformation. Brother Metaxas, along with many others, leads us to re-evaluate the Christian Faith in light of the unity of the body of Christ, which is the true Church. His ecumenical spirit marks him as a true man of God. Brothers and sisters, if I may subvert St. Paul here: "take note of those who help to heal divisions and remove obstacles from our path."

Hi Beckett, I'd like to request, if you would, a video on how to grow in grace and avoid all the pitfalls. I was born again in 1980, made the mistake of getting in to a bad church the very next month. It took me 6 years to figure out it was bad and why. While there, we were taught there was no other church to go to and I did believe it because of the dead church I had come from when I was born again. So I never did find a church to go to, fell into new age, wasted 10 years of my life there and became hostile to God and Jesus. Nevertheless God did miraculously deliever me from both word of faith and new age. But it's been a difficult journey back to the God and Jesus I once knew from His word so long ago.
