The basic goal of everybody in Utah right now is to make sure the story doesn't go too national, but more importantly to make sure no white Mormons go to jail. If Ballard can produce an African American or Indigenous American who can be framed as more responsible for the scam than he and his friends there will be a s***storm.

I saw Tim Ballard force a small girl to hug him after she was allegedly rescued from sex trafficking. I knew immediately that he was not a good man. For no man would ever force physical touch, even of an innocent nature, on a child who had been harmed by the touch of adult men. I was called crazy for speaking out, but I stand by what I felt and believe.

@Encontrarlaverdad Do you realize how much courage it takes for anyone to come forward as a sexual assault victim? Your question is an insult and a slap in the face to SA victims. Let's look at the girls at BYU. Remember that? The ones that got sent packing because by reporting a crime, they too were considered to be in violation of the "honor code" So now, they need to decide, is my education more important? Why would any victim of SA, want to come forward and report something so traumatic when these are the questions they will be asked? Why would any victim want to report a crime like this when the attitude of so many is to blame the victim, or question why were you there, what were you wearing, did you think that was a safe place and so on. I get it, sometimes people lie. But I cannot think of one logical reason why anyone would want to report being assaulted in this way when all you have to do is look around at the attitudes shown towards those that do come forward to know that you will be treated with suspicion and doubt. Perhaps these women didn't feel safe until now. Who knows? But does that really even matter? They came forward and saved whoever would have been next and that could have been many. So in my book they came forward and that is what matters. Sad thing is, I doubt you will even recognize the toxicity of your question. 😢

I'm seeing a lot of emotion statements about people feel about allegations, but I haven't yet seen concrete documented reports or allegations made through proper investigative channels, so I'm asking where to find those. Just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist. But I find it suspect that everyone talks about their emotions and no one is saying any like concrete facts. I'm sure it's emotional. But legal matters aren't about emotion or public opinion. If there are criminal allegations, those should be thoroughly investigated and I hope they are so people can either find justice go the full extent of the law or be exhonerated, based on evidence, like legal evidence. Saying something is heartbreaking or abhorrent (even if it is your emotional truth about abuse) isn't the same thing as saying [for fictional example]: "On such-and-such date, at approximately X:YZ time, A Big Bear put his genitals on my leg during a business meeting." That was a fictional example of a legal allegation or report. I have never had a business meeting with a bear of any size. Documented or verifiable evidence would be helpful in recovering truth and I don't know why this is all for public circus rather than saving statements for the courtroom. I just don't get it, I guess.

Eric it is not that people who knew or saw were apathetic... it's that (as you know, being a Salt Lake police officer and Utah resident) that the church of LDS is so astoundingly powerful people have been and still are afraid. I am old (almost 70) and never met anyone a member of LDS til I moved to west coast of USA and met some former members. Having been involved in counselling from a young age, was always aware of and interested in the subject of human trafficking and frustrated how people were so unwilling to listen or believe it exists. So when TB started posting on social media, I followed. However something about him did not ring true to me. So I was not one of the many jumping on the movie bandwagon. I was surprised that it is only recently that the movie's connection to LDS and Tim's ambitions there is coming out now. Following these stories now. Glad that his victims are strong on saying that trafficking exists and is an important issue even though TB is a fraud. Sending them healing and blessings. Thank you for admitting your mistakes and giving a voice for the victims.

As a victim of childhood sexual abuse who was not believed and victim shamed myself I applaud Eric for standing up for these women. I wanted Tim to be good, all the way good so badly, but at the cost of truth being lost and buried? I had a family member who was horrifically sra abused and he became a physical therapist who worked specifically on sra victims, to help them become healed from this sort of trauma. He went to prison for the same type of things Tim was doing to his victims. It doesn’t get much worse then abusing women in the name of God and as a man of authority. That is pure evil. Doing a little bit of good doesn’t justify doing bad as well. Thank you Eric for wanting truth and doing what it takes to get it. For putting yourself on the line for it. I as well have been called a pedo for standing up for these women, yes me who has lived with cptsd due to the abuse I had as a child. I have dealt with SO MANY men with similar behavior, I knew the stories were not fabrications. I bet speaking with the victims made it even more apparent. Even before all this, I knew that Tim was a grifter and a liar. I never believed a word that came out of his mouth. It's the people who have no discernment who have put him on a pedestal that are having issues believing he would do these things. So people who disagree with Moutos's conclusions have cognitive dissonance? His research consists mostly of interviewing women accusers (whom he calls victims), some of whom are apparently still participating in the operations. It seems manipulative that he cherry picks from those who disagree with him the most extreme ones who call him a pedophile, and not any of the logical arguments. For instance, that it was not his business to interview these women, nor was it the place of these women to go to social media figures to poison public opinion, and therefore a jury pool, as they remained anonymous and even before charges were filed. Or that interviewing these women accusers, no matter how convincing, doesn't represent the whole story and that accusations are not facts, even if they are all similar. (Might just mean they are orchestrated). Guilty or innocent, Tim Ballard has no chance of a fair hearing, considering the condition of our jury system and the now poisoned pool of public opinion, thanks at least partially to these social media figures, many of whom seem to be full of themselves and their "courage" at taking on a subject that they should have stayed out of. Naturally, many of them say it is hard for them to do and even feign tears, yet they keep banging the drum against Ballard, and seem to be getting a lot of publcity and ego-enhancing coverage, such as this interview. Moutsos and others rationalize this public social media lynching by saying they are seeking truth and truth matters. Yet, we don't know the truth, just Moutsos' version that he has assimilated from the accusers. There is more info to be considered than what Moutsos is getting from these women. Interesting also to see Moutsos on the same side as Utah's governor. LOL. Innocent until proven guilty seems to have no place in publicizing and commenting on these accusations. (Perhaps I should say commenting, and commenting endlessly.)Whether Ballard is innocent, guilty or somewhere in between, Moutsos and other social media figures are full of themselves when they think it is their place to present accusations and give opinions on something that should be a matter for a Bishop and now a court system, while at the same time stating that his opinins are the "truth" and we must face all face the truth and heal, as if he is doing something altrustic.. Social media has become very dangerous when figures with large platforms take upon themselves this role, regardless of how confident they are in their "rightness". Setting aside the Ballard case, if social media figures can use their influence in this way, we have to consider the destruction that they could do to a innocent person who was made to look guilty (which could apply to apply to Ballard).. What Moutsos and others are doing is so divisive and destructive. This is not the Lord's way and is not righteous, regardless of the claims of truth-seeking and wanting to see accountability. THAT IS FOR THE BISHOP AND THE COURTS, NOT MOUTSOS OR ANYONE ELSE. (.And yes, I have read the documents and I see a lot of accusations, smears and uglines that appeal to emotions and can cause people to get upset, but no evidence or facts.) I will wait to form an opinion when FACTS and EVIDENCE are presented, not emotional accusations. And if the facts indicate guilt of something or of everything accused, I will form an opinion, but I will not participate in publicly denouncing Ballard. I am so disillusioned with the unChristlike behavior of those ready to condemn publicly, in the name of truth or seeking accountability. Based on the comments on here, this seems more like a Moutsos fan club.

Secondly, I cannot put confidence in serious allegations such as these if the accusers are not willing to be known. The anonymity is a red flag for me. @vmskating9028

They are not anonymous to Tim Ballard. In a statement on The Spear Fund, he basically describes who they are. I don't blame them for being afraid to reveal their names. The cult of Tim Ballard is formidable and I don't doubt if Tim gave the word, these women would be doxed and harassed. Tim Ballard made people sign non disclosure agreements which are hard knowing how to say your truth while not having lawyers come after you. Those agreements last longer than employment. There's also the shame issue - they feel ashamed for their actions, fear of what the church will say if they are members, humiliation in public and with their friends and family, feeling beguiled and manipulated by Tim Ballard. No one wants their dirty laundry for all to hear and for lawyers to pick apart. Also, it's sad it should be this way. Women shouldn't have to feel afraid to say they've been sexually harassed but what nearly always happens is that it gets turned around and the victims get blamed. There are many allegations against Tim Ballard - he even said himself the couple's ruse was true and he even showed that picture with tattoos all over his body - he's trying to do some damage control.

I agree- you are spot on! He didn’t keep the right people in his inner circle to keep him in check. It didn’t need to go this direction. Heartbreaking for so many.

mmmm... Ballard was the only operative that was doing this. Everybody else was expected to play by the rules so your hypothesis has some holes in it. I'm sure he could have found some other fellas to use the "couples ruse" especially if he had told them that it was sanctioned by Nephi and an LDS apostle.

@@cj-cw7wi you're right, I'm sure he wasn't only one. The others were at least complicit. Though more than one of the women who accused him said that the other guy who "rehearsed" at the SLC strip clubs was more professional about it and didn't do more than arm around the shoulder kind of thing.

Why would OUR fire Tim Ballard right before the movie came out? Why? Wouldn’t it be good for them to have this big hero leading their organization and all this media buzz? It’s not a media hit job. His own organization fired him months ago. Think a little

The investigations by journalists into OUR, Ballard, Reyes, and othes associated with the Mormon organization go back, at least, three years. So, definitely not "all of a sudden." It's just that when this film was mentioned on national news, it got the attention of people like me--far from Utah--who have some first hand knowledge of trafficking. I knew it was a fraud before I ever knew that Ballard or Mormons were involved.

Not sure who to believe at this point, but if this true they need to throw the book at him, because there would be so many wrongs here, including making people believe in him and afterwards not trusting anybody ever again.

We are lost here. Why should trust you and not Tim Ballard. Both seem to be honorable, specially Tim Ballard. These talk really bad about the church culture, people very sensible to manipulation, even Elder Ballard was duped, what can we expect from the regular members, and the whole world. This hero was an inspiration for the world and now he is becoming a monster. Adult women claiming, he made me do it, he, being a priesthood holder stating that he was backed for an apostle. Did this ladies went to their spiritual leaders for guidance when they were feeling suspicious? So far we don’t know, Tim Ballard is innocent until proven otherwise. Opinions are not enough.

Still unproven facts. My problem with you is that you said to know the truth, listening and reading accusations are not enough. Maybe your intuition and training are really good, better than Elder Ballard, but still subjective. We need facts and context. God help us!

@@PLopezA There is more than just accusations. Their own words and actions--those of the two Ballards--condemn them. Facts are facts. I don't know what is meant by "unproven facts." Do you mean, because it's never gotten to criminal court to be tried? Well, you can thank that fine upstanding Attorney General you've got there in Utah for that--he's into this thing up to his eyeballs, too. There's no need for accusations because, again, his own words, deeds, and the audio-video recordings provide all the proof necessary.

So this is the new type of schemes we will endure in the foreseeable future?… Dudes impulses (always been around people) of getting multiple women, power and notoriety will use a: fundraising scheme under guise of saving children from sex trafficking and then his religion and powerful people (trumpism)(Qonan) help his cover to continue over and over with women. And like this brother shared, the audacity that he knew he was caught, kicked out of his own company he started, and then still wanted to run for senate? Wow that’s some crazy narcissist behavior, all time.
