‘Before We Begin’ is Eric Nam's first English album. The lead single "Congratulations," is a song that celebrates a break up and the sense of freedom felt in ending an old and worn-out relationship. "Congratulations! You're finally leaving. Let's have a party tonight and toast to the end of you and I.” Cause breakups don’t always have to be bad.
Marc E. Bassy, a world-renowned R&B singer-songwriter, participated in "Congratulations" as a feature artist.
Before We Begin은 에릭남이 데뷔 이후 처음 공개하는 영어 앨범이다. ‘우리 시작하기 전에’라는 의미의 Before We Begin 앨범 안에는 다양한 색채로 그린 사랑의 순간들이 담겨 있다.
타이틀곡 ‘Congratulations’는 ‘이별축하송’으로, 낡고 지난한 연애를 끝내면서 느끼는 해방감을 경쾌하게 풀어낸 곡이다. “축하해! 드디어 네가 떠나네. 오늘 밤 파티를 열어 너와 나의 끝에 건배하자”라는 가사에서는 이별이 마냥 무거울 필요는 없다는 쿨함과 여유마저 느껴진다.
'Congratulations'에는 세계적인 R&B 싱어송라이터 Marc E. Bassy(마크 이 배시)가 피처링으로 참여했다.
