My heart goes out to Eric Rupert because he’s the one that found his best friend Anthony Bourdain body. What an amazing friendship and brotherhood. RIP.

I feel so for eric. I have seen so many clips and interviews with the 2 and Anthony often referred to them as brothers. That’s how close their bond was and the fact that he discovered his body and that probably is something that will be with him for the rest of his life. It’s so sad.

Oh my heart ... it's still so fresh. It means so much that people who knew him have reassured fans that their grief is valid ... that we DID know him ... that who he was on screen is indeed the beloved man we lost. Sometimes i feel guilty that this has hit me so bad ... like i don't have the right? Such a hideous, hideous loss.

We live in the Cayman Islands; where we have the pleasure of Eric’s second restaurant and the cook out and his many visits, which, given our small size are often intimate. As such we all meet Chef Eric and met Anthony. So much so that we will not ever speak nonsense of either. Anthony we all wish you (of course) to still be with your friends and among us and to RIP. The island is very very fond of Eric and our hearts and love are with him always. He is a genuine decent man.

I was watching cook tour on my phone at work and i saw a premonition of bourdain next to my work desk. as i was watching the show on my iphone. I look at him at the opposite side of my table and i see this tall old guy with a white flannel shirt with jeans. I said. “ have you cross over anthony” The voice said “ not yet, so many things in my mind right now” I said “ you know your famous right” He said “ i might think so” I said “ you left us with your good memories” He said “ no doubt” He smiled and fade away in my thought as he walk a few feet away” R.I.P anthony.

Eric, I am so sorry you had to see what you did. You dont deserve this trauma. However, you can celebrate Tony forever... Mr. BOURDAIN I miss you every day, Mr. Bourdain. As a young child, I watched your show and dreamed to travel to the places we saw on the Travel Channel. Now, I can only thank you for the experiences and memories because I traveled to these far off places because of you. I miss your voice... I miss your experiences... I miss you

To me from the perspective of only watching his shows that he was, or I suppose what he was doing was the epitome of living your life, may he rest easy.

He was a lone male voice in support of women, before it became trendy-for-a-hot-second-and-then-came-the-backlash-and-now-it’s-worse-than-ever-of-the-ME-TOO-movement-of-approximately-15-seconds-that-men-graciously-allowed-us-before-pile-driving-us-back-into-middle earth. I’m so sorry for his little girl. She probably adored him.. I’m sorry she will have to tolerate what most men will dish out to her in her life, without her Dad to remind her that some of males do grow, and evolve into real men.

They were shouting a tv episode of Parts Unknown in France together. They were friends for many years and anytime Anthony would shoot something in France he’d like to have Eric at his side to show, explain or share more of French culture. Eric is the one who found Anthony dead in his hotel room as he was not showing up for the shooting the next day. He happened to be there for the shooting and as he worried he was late, not showing up for the tv shooting and not answering, as a dear friend, he went and checked on him at his hotel room. Now go away with your murder theory, he already lost a friend and had to be the one who found him dead in his hotel room, do you imagine the pain and trauma that is? Eric doesn’t have to suffer the stupid conspirationist theory of idiotic bigots like you who want to see sandal and hidden truth in such a terrible event. Anthony never hid his past of drug addict and the fact he got jaded from all his relentless travels and the fame effects had on his so complexe mind. He also just found out the girl he was with at that time (Asia Argento) cheated on him (some pictures taken of her affair with a French journalist got published in a gossip French magazine at that time). Sensitive personality, heartbreak, longtime pain from the past can get reactivated with new painful event. Suicide doesn’t warn and can’t get explained, It is a decision that belongs to the one who committed it and always remains a mystery and terrible thing to process, explain or understand for the closed ones who feel guilty for not having realized, seen or helped that person deal with a pain they couldn’t bear anymore in this life. Your small mind might not understand that and instead prefers believing in some sensationalist stuff, truth of the matter is suicide will always leave many clueless.

Always thought it was weird how one year before, on his Parts Unknown episode in the French Alps, Eric Ripert joked about murdering Anthony in the hotel. Go watch the episode. This guy is bizarre.
