3 жыл бұрын

Ginny Burton was introduced to marijuana at the age of six. She was using meth at age 12, and by 14 she was smoking crack. At 16 she was raped by a man who bought drugs from her mother. By 17 she'd attempted suicide for the first of many times. She got pregnant and the baby’s father was shot and killed. At 21 she started shooting heroin. By 23 she was a hardcore heroin addict.
Today, Ginny is a different woman. A graduate of the University of Washington, Ginny wants to change the world.
To know Ginny Burton's story is to believe that no soul is irredeemable. To look at her before-and-after pictures is to understand that truly, anything is possible.
"My story isn't an accident," she said. "I think it will be used for everybody else. Maybe I can be some kind of Pied Piper, to help people recover their own lives. That's what I care about. There are some days that I wish I could just slip away here, with a garden, and open up a little cafe. But in reality, I know it's my job to continue to create hope."

@@nancydavieau278 What is your point in mentioning their apartment? Just being a jerk because you think she should be a homeowner by age 48? 🙄 There are no age limits when it comes to building or re-building your life. Her childhood was stolen from her - does that compute? She is a VERY strong and resilient woman who is finally able to experience what many of us take for granted. Many people switch careers in their 40’s and 50’s. What is your passive aggressive comment about her first career meant to imply? Who gives a flying f*ck what her age is as she begins her career? Whether she’s 28 or 48, she has demonstrated more grit and drive to succeed than many people. You are coming across as condescending with your thinly veiled snark. Get lost if you can’t see her bravery and work ethic.

How many parents of homeless addicts are here sobbing and praying their child turns their life around like this amazing woman? It's been 20 years of watching my son cycle through these same patterns, doing everything I can to help him, often enabling him because that line gets so cloudy when your heart is broken. I still believe in him, I still have faith he'll turn his life around. I'll never give up on him. I've shared this video with him. I surrender it all to God.

I'm 37 I struggled with addiction since 15. Clean for 8 years then relapsed and went deeper than ever before for a little over a year. Found out I was pregnant but I still used it, though I lost the baby went deeper and deeper. Had my 4th child they took her from me at 5 days old because I gave her away by choosing drugs over her then my other 2 my first was with his father after 12 years of raising him, and I had relapsed and failed my children, and myself. Words started my spiral but I didn't stop. After my 5 days old were taken I knew I couldn't stop on my own... I put MYSELF in a live-in rehab for mothers and children. I sobbed every night during the 30-day blackout because I felt so defeated and gave my kids away. The day I earned my baby back I told myself no more! Looking at her and my other children and seeing the hurt I caused my boys and seeing that the stress I caused my 5-year-old daughter at the time to start having absentees seizures , I was done with that life and NEVER wanted to go back. I had a little slip up trying to comfort a friend one night , drank with her and ended up blacking out and not coming home on time. After that I told myself no one and nothing is worth the possibility of messing up. Almost 5 years now I have been clean and sober, the friend that I tried to help is no longer with us . Broke my heart but I know her pain is over and she is at rest. Just wish I could have helped her come back from that despair. I have all my children and a home and going to LV to celebrate my birthday and mommas break from being with all the babies for over two years strait with the pandemic happening . For music not to party💞. Staying in a suite and 2 amazing nights of music that truly helped me heal and continues to help me and sooo many others . If it wasn’t for my kids and these musicians . I wouldn’t be here 💜 I can promise that! So anyone suffering or knows someone that is , don’t give them money or pay the bills, if they need something buy the item they say they need, ask them how are they mentally , ask what started the path don’t hate them just understand they are hurting themselves and most likely think they deserve and think well damn I already messed up so why not keep going there is not hope of coming back from this . There is hope just not until they are tired of that life, and not until they realize they can and will come back from it or unfortunately die or locked up. I will be going to college after my youngest starts school and become a nurse but I also want to open a rehab for family’s . There is not enough options to try and keep a family together, also to have a system when you show progress and willingness to change the more help and assistance you receive! That will be my deal and my way to give back.

Your crazy, that's like the least smartest thing she said. She's great, awesome, but there's nothing prophetic about what she said. Some people can argue the police were just doing their job. Butch Cassidy But she might, occasionally there are good cops to be found out there, and I know people who have gone out to do things deliberately to get arrested to get a break from it all, i think I understand where your coming from, but this could be an exception, especially as it is a remarkable story, isn’t easy dragging oneself out of that pit, i know. And i think the original comment was trying to say we can always try to look at any event in different ways, especially ones that on the surface appear all bad, Go well.

It's totally possible girl 🙏 I did it too. Never looked back. It's been over ten years. The biggest thing is know when you're finally tired and done, and BELIEVE in yourself. Don't question if you can, KNOW you can. The beginning is the hardest. Withdrawals ofc, but then building your life. Relearning who you are. Showing people who you are through action, even when no one believes you. Words won't work. Don't care what anyone thinks about you. Just focus on loving yourself, and putting one foot in front of the other. Don't look too far ahead in future early on, because it's too overwhelming. Focus on getting through only that day. Sometimes it's even just getting through that hour or minute. Find ways to distract yourself. You'll need someone to talk to too. Right now if you're in the thick of it, you MUST get out of your environment. If you're an IV user, you can get rehab! Do it!! Also get rid of everyone's phone numbers!! That's so important. You can totally do it... if you're ready. You have to be ready. Best of luck 🙏💗🙏

Unfortunately, Addiction is not “beatable”. She will always be an addict. She knows this. Addiction is a monster in your mind that can go to sleep while in recovery. But, it’s always there…looking for an opportunity to get you. As long as she stays vigilant, knows her triggers, knows how to properly cope, and most importantly is active in her recovery for life, she will continue to do amazing things. Her story is incredible and rare. It’s hope for recovering addicts, such as myself, can persevere!! But, being brutally honest about being an addict is extremely important. And to not give off the notion that we can “beat” our addiction or that we are “cured” because we got sober. That will never happen. She truly is an inspiration and I hope so many people see her story. ❤️

He made his comment/interpretation whatever you want to call it and I did my observation too, whether you like it or not. You won’t silent me or something. I will even repeat : I do not agree with his observation, to add « she’s not acting as a victim » was unnecessary and very ignorant as there is not such a thing as « acting as a victim ».
