So I'm confused, it seems like a great idea for law abiding citizens. And obviously facial recognition should not be the only way to convict people but to add to the evidence. Well I guess Seattle wants to continue aiding criminals.

Facial recognition software is limited in its use. It is still not compelling in its accuracy, no matter how many parameters used. It may be useful in a elimination of potential suspects, kind of like lie detector tests. Think the council didn't fully think this through, as usual...

King County is one of the best places in America to be a criminal. That's why they come here from all over!

I've never seen it proven that facial recognition actually works. I've seen a one-sided presentations that show that it can select someone, but we aren't shown the person that they select to have identified beforehand. It may just be useful in eliminating suspects, rather than truly identifying them, similarly to how lie detectors can sometimes be useful. Feel this is a poorly considered, rushed decision by the council/counties again. That this is being conflate as a privacy issue is laughable. Theu would need to ban surveillance for that...

Even though they're only doing it to protect the criminals, it's still good.
