Great interview with Eric. 🙂 Such a clever and organised man! The vulnerability and gentleness of Ben is still evident in Eric's energy and face. 💜 Thanks for these wonderful interviews, Ross. 👏

Eric, you are so right! The fans wanted to see the original kids grown up. And also right about the hair and wardrobe going off course during the late seventies. That said, I loved the reunion shows. The plot didn't matter. We just wanted to see the cast. I also enjoy seeing your real family photos on FB.

I always love the The 7 Walton kids. I agree with Eric (Ben) regarding the absence of his TV children; Ginny and Charlie. It's so happened that I purchased THE WALTON MOVIE Set and there are six of them. There are discrepancies and inconsistencies in the story. Killing Ginny's character is unjustifiable as well as the absence of Charlie not being mentioned on the succeeding movies after he was born. I thought this was unfair for Ben and Cindy for the fact that Mary Ellen's two kids were there, but I wonder what happened to John Curtis that time. Jason's 5 children were there, Erin's 3 children were there too. Then, John Boy's twins happened to be on the last movie. Well, mistakes of the past cannot be corrected now. Anyway, thank you for this interview of Eric Scott aka Ben Walton. Love it.🥰

Eric, you are exactly right. The first thing I said to my husband is where was Charlie. I thought that was lousy that they didn't even mention him. The timeline of these shows was off as well. John Boy (Richard) graduated from high school in 1934, so when Kennedy was shot would have been 27 years later. So later when he married and had children he would have been very much older than the norm. That being said, I enjoyed all of the movies that came after the series because I missed all of you so much. I think this was my most favorite TV series of all time. Thanks so much for the enjoyment! Thanks to you too Ross for the great interviews.

They actually cast the children as a group like they did with "The Sound of Music". They matched looks and hair color. There were 3 groups. Mary Beth said Earl thought she looked like his sister Audrey.

Eric, I don’t want to come off as a know-it-all, but to reference Charlie - he couldn’t have been with Cindy’s father in the Walton reunion. Her father was killed in a car accident. Also, you are very handsome. The years have been good to you. 😊

I love this interview. Eric Scott was one of my favorite character on the show. Actually, Judy Norton and Eric Scott were my favorite actor and actress on the show. Also,I always found it interesting that (I heard this years after the show but) in the episode called, "The Ceremony" I believe, when the Walton kids were talking to the Jewish boy in that episode , and Ben asks some like after it stated that the kid was Jewish, "What's a Jew?" or something like that, and here Eric is Jewish, I found it's funny that, Ben was the one to say that line.

13:24 I'm so glad to hear the subject of period-correctness brought up. I noticed the '70s hair creeping into the later episodes of The Waltons and MASH, but the worst offender, by far, was Happy Days. It was as if the networks (CBS and ABC) were trying to keep the shows relevant by injecting some present-day "cuteness" into the look of the cast. That, like the endless women in blue-jeans that appeared in '50s Westerns, might have been a necessity given the competitive nature of TV, but it must have given younger viewers some strange ideas of what prior decades were like. Anyway, it's great to see that Eric is doing so well after all these years; he always seemed a little too sane for Hollywood.

I remember the GAF commercial with Henry Fonda, and Bewitched. I remember how syched you were about this event. You were telling us about how you were going to be in this new movie, for TV. We were all very proud of you and happy for you too. You know some scouts would go out for their merit badges and do a little something, no you Eric, you had to get the merit badge and the movie too! Lol By the way, Eric is anything but shy, he was a go-getter and tenacious,

That’s true binge watching did not occur back in the day. But I’ve binge watch it every year from the beginning of the homecoming to the very last movie they put out. Same with little house it’s like I go on a run in sprint. 😂 I don’t know that I’m a diehard fan as far as collecting memorabilia and all that I don’t have all that but you know you binge watch to the point that you know what’s coming or you read the title of the next episode and he got oh yeah, I remember that one that’s got this and this and you know this is gonna happen. You’re happy you’re sad you laugh you cry you have all your emotions involved every episode for me I can get emotional at some point whether it’s just one phrase that grandpa has said her grandmother or daddy or mama or one of the children or a scene in particular and I think everybody you know, relates to something over time, whether back then or several years ago or in the present moment . For me, it’s very nostalgic because Ralph Waite reminds me so much of my dad. The way, Ralph Waite held his lower lip is so much of what my own daddy did. I was born to older parents, my mom 42 my dad 47 and my grandfathers and grandmothers were born in the 1800s because of that I really didn’t get to know my grandparents. My father’s dad died when he was 12 years old so he had to support his mother and two sisters growing up however, his mother, my grandmother taught me how to sew on a treadle sewing machine used newspapers to make patterns for my Mrs. Beasley doll I had and she cooked on the old fashion stows that you used to put wood in and you had the warmer above it. I remember she used to take leftover roast beef And she would run it through a meat grinder that attach to your table or counter and she would take those little ground up giblets from the leftover roast beef and add it to some of the roast beef gravy and then on fresh mashed potatoes. oh my God it was to die for to this day it’s just so nostalgic and one of my favorite things she would make canned goods and cherries, and I learned that from her and my mother and I could’ve sat and ate a whole quarter cherries, but she gave me an excuse as a child that I would get a bellyache from it which to this day I could still sit and eat a whole quarter cherries. 😁♥️ No, my grandfather on my mother side passed away long before I was born and her mother who was only 4 foot 9 1/2 inches tall I think due to the point she had had polio, I vaguely remember her at the age of three or four years old in our house, sitting on our couch, and I came through the back porch into the kitchen and went through the living room to my room, and when I came out, they were helping her to the front door of the house and that was all I remember of her. So for grandma and grandpa to me, it’s like having those grandparents I never had because my own grandmother, my dad’s mother, the one I mentioned here her sister lived with her my aunt and they both lived to their early mid 90s and my aunt was legally deaf and blind. You had to speak very loudly to her, and my favorite past time with her was I would play checkers with her she had this checker, set with round and square checkers little blue pill, round checkers and light cream square ones and on one side they had the braille print and I would play checkers with her every time I was at my grandmothers so I was to have that checker set when she passed away plus her birthstone ring, which was a genuine pure gold band a ring with a genuine, huge topaz stone in it that was given to me when she died .

I don't know how it happened, but lately I have noticed I age three years to every one year a Walton's cast member ages. So although Eric is a little older than I am, I have passed him up when it comes to visible age. Good thing Eric didn't do "The King And I" pilot or his life would have been much different. Although with Eric's drive and talent, it makes you wonder if he would have been a very successful actor either way. His life as a successful business owner and family man far exceeds anything he did with the Waltons. Congrats to him!

In the later two seasons, continuity did collapse. Bringing Curt back as a nut job….what? The clothing is 70s style, and what they did to John Boy was simply junk. I Love the first 7 seasons.❤️
