What's the most educational thing I learned from years of recording and then mixing for hours,was having a gentlemen who did mastering give me some levels needed for him to get the best results. I came to the freakish conclusion that less is more, that my mic placement and eq-ing pre record button pushed was very good and not necessary to overkill it with multiple clone tracks and Godzilla reverb and concentration camp noise gate and compression. I had an epiphany that the best engineers could do a majority of their finished tone pre recording,by having your mixing board presets and mix placement ready to go.
