i love your channel!! its exactly what i needed to see!! also i cud never get on with maths

Interesting review. I have been looking for an eg for a while. Like you have been using my maths solely for this purpose but the thing with the gates has been a real eye opener. Cheers.

Hate to say negative things about a modular maker, but as far as Erica synths goes, I'd avoid like the plague. My fusion vco2 had a broken connection on the board connectors, and the FM doesn't work. My fusion VCF does literally nothing (had to calibrate the pots myself, and Erica wouldn't tell me how to do it). My black dual EG came with two knobs unconnected from the pots. The black dsp is just underwhelming. The only Erica modules that have been OK have been the pico modules, but the quality control on their higher end stuff is downright terrible. Their customer service is even worse. Avoid.

But yes, good envelope generators are awesome. The instruo Ceis are what I'm using now - my only minor quibble is that I wish they had an Attenuator on the output. Not a biggy though.

@@robthebloke Interesting. I've only ever had a good experience with their customer support. I purchased their techno system and custom-built another 2x 104hp rack with their modules. I've also had a faulty unit - The cutoff knob on my Polivoks VCF didn't work properly, but the support team was very forthcoming and replaced the module within a week. It seems like you've hit streak of bad luck.
@robthebloke3 жыл бұрын
@@myfriend69420 if it was a one off fair enough, but all my customer support requests have been flatly ignored until after the mandatory 30 day cool off period has expired. (I've only ever purchased directly from them). Just means you're stuck with a faulty unit, and any repair is at your expense.
@robthebloke3 жыл бұрын
@@myfriend69420 I suspect you'd be better off purchasing their stuff via thomann et Al, which might give you some coverage. After my experiences of buying directly from them, I'd rather put my money elsewhere. Just my 2 cents.

@Molten Music Technology BTW if you use the input with the arrow next to TRIG input on MATH, you can also "hold" the note :)
@MoltenMusicTech3 жыл бұрын
yes indeed
@jonaseggen22303 жыл бұрын
You are right, more modules that make gates should have a trigger output next to the gate out, or at least an expander with them. Should the fact that this is not the case make us triggered? Would such expanders make us triggerhappy? Or just a 2hp module that turned two gates into triggers, and maybe with an end of cycle to, so you got three outputs per input: gate, trigger and end of cycle trigger? I got a Contour that has both trigger and a gate input, and though I should get another to make a sort of pseudo maths together with Blinds. But then I saw COSMOTRONIC DELTA V EURORACK ENVELOPE & VCA MODULE (REV. 2) and thought, yes maybe get this one firs, but now this. Hm. I think this one is more tempting actually. Double plus good is that Erica got so emotionally pleasing knobs.

If I get it right, the gate input understands if the signal coming in is trig or or gate, and it makes the envelope AD or ASR ? Thanks for the review !! (btw, what's that grey filter? looks and sounds great ! )
@Rob_653 жыл бұрын
So the final conclusion is that this is the EG you always wanted but did not know it exists 😁 I love the EOC output, that is a great feature not found on many other A(D)SRs and yes - there should be an option to convert the gate into a trigger but it looks like there is no room left on the panel to mount an extra switch.

What is that module next to the Erica adsr on the right side???
@MoltenMusicTech6 ай бұрын
It's the British Noise Electronics Grit filter
@bob-rogers3 жыл бұрын
That looks pretty neat. Since it has end of cycle, can you use one envelope to trigger the other? What's that cool filter? It has a great Neve console vibe.

I couldn’t get that to work. Filter - Grit by British noise electronics

Nice review! I was wondering, do you have a video where you go through your rack(s) and talk about what you use, what you like and don't like about each module and how they fit together?
@MoltenMusicTech3 жыл бұрын
No, my rack is always changing but I have about three years worth of videos on its evolution

@@MoltenMusicTech Sure! Still, I'd been interested in a momentary overview/summary then ;) I really like your tone of voice which I find, well, plainly honest. Anyways, do you have one where you talk about the Hermod? Looked through your video list but didn't catch it
@MoltenMusicTech3 жыл бұрын
I don't like to do videos on things I don't get on with and Hermod was definitely that. But it features in a few videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpeVaqaEmdusobs kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGXHk6CEhsmLeM0

@@MoltenMusicTech makes sense - it is a kind of weird situation when talking gear as a youtuber. On the one hand we all have our experiences bad and good, but on the other hand when doing a video on a channel with a professional network the setting suade us towards positivity or at least to leave out (too much) negativity/dislike opinions while having an audience that returns with a feeling of being amicable/familiar and thus presume to be able to get an unfiltered opinion (at some point at least). I see it with almost all the gear channels (except the guy with the "bad gear series" - name escapes me) . It is what it is, but it is thought provoking especially for channels that do buying guides and reviews. Channels and brands are different of course.. Anyways, Thx for the link! // Jonas

most of the time with your channel (no disrespect, uh) I feel like you don't have a clue what you're doin' but at least you have fun, which is enjoyable. Let see with this one (an LFO and a EG should be ok)

It seems the Maths is starting to loose its "must have" reputation
@wonkyrobot3 жыл бұрын
Its a great EG, but the way i tend to use MATH this is not a replacement. But I totally get if you only use MATH as a EG, there's waaay better options, both money and hp wise :)
@airfrankenstein2 жыл бұрын
Maths is less immediate, but it's a module you can grow into rather than out of. Nothing but solutions. Dual asr does it's thing very well.

Maths other than an envelope/lfo is a : Mixer,slew limiter, comparator, attuneverter, basic lpf, logic, envelope follower, oscillator, clock divider, rectifier, burst generator in 20hp.
