42 - 2.5" x 2.5" squares
2 - 14.5" x 6.5 for bottom of bag
2 - 14.5" x 6.5" canvas for drawstring casing
LINING:
2 - 14.5" x 12.5" lining
1 - 7.5" x 8.5" pocket

I love your tutorials! I will be making this bag for a daughter that just started knitting and for myself for sewing/quilting and cross stitching. I also use 505 basting spray and have learned a lesson with it that I need to share. I sprayed light gray fabric with 505 and it is permanently stained. It looks like a wet spot that never dries and goes away-even after washing several times and air drying. I will only spray batting from now on. I was going to gift the quilted pillow covering, but now I will be keeping it myself.

I made this! I cut scraps for the patchwork and now that I've made it I will definitely do more, lots of ways you could arrange your fabrics. I top stitched at the last on the outside and I have to pull the drawstrings through one at a time, each way!!! It took me ages as I have stop and watch and anything new you take longer anyway. I'm also not so perfect with the sides matching exactly, you match everything and no pins, though I should have used batting as fusible fleece is not my fave to quilt, and doesn't give so well. Thanks for a brilliant squishy bag Erica, my sewing friend will love it, I know...Better than chocolates and things for my hostess gift.

Thank you for this awesome tutorial. This is a gorgeous bag, and super useful. I'm currently training my 6 mo. old doberman puppy, and I can see this being a great way to take her stuff to the park or to the stores. Your cat cracks me up. I used to have a calico that would steal my glass head pins, only blue, and hide them in our beds, on top of the quilt, thank goodness! She was a mess!!

I have made two of these so far. I used Beautiful Day by Corey Yoder and Fresh Fig Favorites by Fig Tree. They both came out great. I did also use my Moda srtings from my fat quarter bundle. My other one I went to Joann's and bought some Simplicity Trim (that's what they call it). It is 1/2" wide and purchased beige and a dark tan color. The beige looks nice. And great for draw strings to.! Thanks Erica. I will be making more!

Omg! Thank you so much for the great pattern and tutorial. I made my bag with an old jelly roll that I had sitting around with the strips already sewn together. It came out so cute. My only problem was that stupidly I used a regular pen to mark the one inch increments on my drawstring casing. I guess I’ll need to buy a washable pen 😂. But I love my little bag!

I know this might seem like a silly question but do we have to quilt if we use some batting? I want to do the patchwork but one of the patches would be a cross stitched rose and I don't really want to do any quilting on top. I still want it to have some puffiness though.
