I have a tiny kitchen (and I mean tiny, yours seems enormous to me 😂) and I don’t have any machines I don’t use very regularly. But when it came to cutlery and china and glasses... I went the opposite way. I got rid of all the chipped everyday stuff and chose to use the fancy, special occasion stuff every day. It brings me joy and I no longer feel guilty for not using the beautiful things.

My turning point to this journey came after seeing all the things my mom & in laws hang on to. It is unreal! I decided I don’t want to leave a bunch of crap for my kids or family to have to go through when I’m gone nor do I want to waste my time cleaning or moving it around a ton of times! I just have to say, your kids must be rock stars to let you be able to get all this done & help you even though they’re younger. Keep up the good work!😊

When you first threw that curtains box towards the back, I literally said to my screen, "Why is she keeping those?" And then you were processing them in the crawl space, and I was like, " If you're not using them, DONATE THEM!" I thought to myself, "What's up with her and curtains?" LOL. But I think I get it. When you have to up and move like you guys have for the military, it's kind of a loss. And if you've ever watched Hoarders, it usually starts with a loss. Not to mention that you could "shop your own stuff" if you had to move again, which would save money. However, to carry around 41 curtain panels in boxes because you might need them... lol. I feel you and you're processing, Erica. I'm sure I have my own "curtains" to deal with in my basement. Great job! You inspire me!!!

My mother has tons of extra stuff for parties because she loves throwing parties and having fancy dinners. Some if it is in the main part of the house, some of it in storage. A popcorn popper, on the other hand, isn't necessary, since you can pop popcorn on the stove, though she has one you use over a fire, which is different. (I had a popcorn machine in my room when I was a student renting a room - there it was useful because I used it all the time.)

I don't keep anything that I don't use regularly. I have a cupboard where all my appliances are kept so nothing is on the counters. There was things in that cupboard that I had never used. Some were still in their packages. Curtains, table runners, dollies, Christmas tree skirts, place mats, cloth napkins and round table cloths. Lots of round table cloths. Our current table is an oblong! I’ve always kept this stuff because apparently you’re supposed to own these things. I'd like to give you a tip for "decluttering" sentimental items: 1. Gather it 2. Sort it nicely (all pictures on one pile, Cards at another, first baby stuff ...) and take out the pieces that you don't want to keep while sorting 3. Take use and joy out of your sentimental items and store the rest nicely in bins and keep those best possible together BUT remember: You don't have the need of giving something sentimental away just for decluttering - you can keep every piece you WANT to keep. Often times just sorting and organising those things helps alot for preventing clutter and you remember what you have. I also love your decluttering series and your little by little path to success. Keep going with your strength ☺ P.S. Best tip I ever recieved for an nice and decluttered storage stace: When you're done decluttering and know, what you want to keep in there, take EVERYTHING out of it and sort those things newly inside with enough space in between to have everything accessible without moving anything else first

That’s a LOT of curtains! // Thank you so much for letting me live in your real life for a little while: it’s a good balm for current events. // Re: popcorn popper... Did you know you can pop popcorn kernels by microwaving inside a brown paper bag, then adding flavors after poured into a bowl? No special equipment needed! Olive oil & smoked salt or olive oil & camomile tea are my favorites.

Impressed by your quick decision making of where things go. I’m learning to put like things together as well. Love your Just Do It approach to decluttering. You got rid of items other people can use and you should feel good about that. Great job and also so sorry you kept hitting your head. Ouch😩

Halfway through the video and thinking isn't funny how we all clean. I would of draged all of that stuff out. Made a huge mess. Totally clean the area it was going back into. Next day- sorting like things together. Next day decide what to keep and get rid of. Next day put back everything that needed to go in space or relocate space and make this low ceiling space a secret fort/ play space for kids. Height isn't a problem for them lol! Your doing a great job! I thought it was interesting how people tackle there space, we each have our own wats to do it.

The spiders part! LOL I hate spiders! Jon asked me today why I wasn't wearing gloves to work in the garden. I told him I refused to wear them because they probably have spiders in them from being in the garage all winter LOL

There are a few items. Like our holiday items that we keep, like out Passover Plate or some items that go with that. We also have 1 platter that I love. We at one point had a ton of wine glasses that we bought for the seder. We got rid of those and resorted to plastic wear. There are some really nice plastic wear. However, that puts us into odd place of unnecessary waste. The platters that I do keep I do put on display.

We moved to this house with no attic or basement = no storage. I have a large family, saving things for later didn’t work. I’ve learned to be ruthless with what I keep. It sucks sometimes but you learn eventually not to get attached to stuff.

Just a thought for future storage/packing, I recently discovered Duck Pack and Track labels. You slap a QR CODED label on a bin and you’re able to name the bin then log what items are in the bin by list and pictures via your smartphone. You’re also able to search for items and locate which bin it’s in. Just throwing it out there! Love the video!

We have a VERY small galley style kitchen for a family of 12. I have decluttered all extra things. I have no crock pot, popcorn maker, small Dutch oven is gone, extra cast irons are gone. Instead I primarily use two massive pots, banquet style electric fry pan and four baking trays basically. Up until recently I kept nothing else for the kitchen anywhere except in the kitchen but food storage was VERY difficult. I now have one bookcase under my house with overflow shelf stable stuff so we don’t need more days going food shopping. I also decluttered and ‘extra’ curtains. I am actually jealous that you have this crawl space to declutter. But......my decluttering muscles are strong so I reckon anything I want to store should just be donated haha. Purgeeeeee

You are donating most of the curtains!!!! Go you!!!!!
