I don't think there's anyone who loves this sport (fishing) more than Erica Lynn. She's very down to earth, and never hams it up for the camera. It's always a super pleasure to watch her videos. She's a treasure.

GOSH ERICA, ur SUCH a GIRL!!! AWESOME STUFF! I caught a seagull once down here in Houston, late night. Thought i had a huge red, but the seagull flew into the line and got tangled in it. I untangled the gull and sent him on his way SCREECHING...

Way to go you for taking care of the hooked bird. Great vids. Can't believe all the beautiful places you fish at. And how very few people are in these absolutely beautiful places.

Outstanding! All of the fisher-ladies I know would have freaked out & found a male to get the hook out of the bird’s mouth. Very impressive!

Seems like you’ve had plenty of experience with birds wanting that free breakfast! Good to see that you took your time to make it wasn’t injured before yo got it close enough to unhook it, he must have been a big fan of yours with as much as it was going for your casts. I hope you got to pull in some actual fish after all that! Thank you the instructional vid 👍🏻😁🔥😘

Erica Please put your sunglasses on when you are unhooking that lure from that bird's beak. He was waving those hooks around. Great video and Great job.

I accidently hooked a cormorant by rattle snake creek N. Key Largo while fishing on a kayak and unlike your bird this bugger had a razor sharp beak. I finally got him or her unhooked (foot, wing and beak) it was not easy and it cut me, at the time I did not think of it but after the fact I realized I should have taken off my shirt and covered his head to undo the 2 other body parts then deal with the head. Hind sight is 20/20.

Was fishing topwater at night in Florida a while back and I looked away for a moment...felt a "bite" and turned to see an Owl had picked up the lure. luckily the hooks didn't get him. he tried a few more times before I moved.

Maybe continuing to cast towards the bird and enticing it wasn’t such a good idea. But on the bright side. You definitely have that space to yourself after that.

Typically, if the bird is hooked worse than that it's a very good idea to wrap a towel around the bird's wings and body to keep them from flapping their wings. If their wings are left free to flap, they can injure themselves by flapping them against the boat, plus the attempt to fly away could result in hurting and twisting their necks. Best to wrap the wings and body in a towel and try to take another rag to cover their eyes, which calms them down. Once the bird is under control, you can work on getting the hook out without hurting the bird further. If the barb is through, best to clip off the barb with wire cutters and then pull out the hook.
@charlessmith42423 жыл бұрын
* When you're dealing with herons and egrets, etc . you start wrapping towels around their wings before you secure their most formable weapon, which is their beak, and you may wind up with a missing eye. There has been more than one dog that has lost an eye or two, because their stupid owner thought it would be fun to shoot one of these birds when the ducks weren't flying. Big mistake!
@artvandelay80903 жыл бұрын
@@charlessmith4242 Well it goes without saying, the first thing you get under control on the bird is the head, by grabbing them by the neck first, not squeezing, but just gaining control of the head. Then you wrap up the wings. Trust me, I'm an avian veterinarian. I've handled everything from cockatoos to egrets, to emus, to sand hill cranes, etc. Doing what the little blonde hoochy-mama in the video did with that heron, using the gunwale of the boat as a chopping block and then letting the bird flail around could result in serious injury to its beak, which in turn will cause the bird to die of starvation. It also could cause a broken neck, which also spells curtains for the bird.

Must be considerably more careful if you hook an Osprey. Their claws are their weapons and are full of bacteria. You’ll need medical attention if you get grabbed.

So many people saying positive things about you and this video...Well your not going to get that from me this time. The bird wasn't dumb in this case, you were. Thumbs down on this one, Ms. Lynn. The second time that Heron, which is a federally protected species by the way, went for your lure you should have picked up and moved. Even though you managed to get the hook out of it, this situation could have gone wrong very quickly for the bird and possibly for you.
