My story is that completely on a whim I went on a tandem paraglider ride in Switzerland. And... after the flight I decided I _had_ to learn flying myself! Hahaha! And I had never before been interested in aviation, never had flying dreams (wait, I had just _one_ as a child). So I took lessons and 2 years later I was back in Interlaken with my own wing! And standing on the same launch spot except alone this time: it felt like a pilgrimage. And I flew away and it was great! A couple of days later I bumped into my tandem pilot from two years' back: he wasn't even surprised! "Oh, I had a few people like you before". One interesting thing about paragliding is that, unlike airplane flying, it never gets boring. There is always something new to learn. And about the fear of heights: it's just a very different feeling. For example, those KZbin videos showing people climbing tall antenna masts make me quite uncomfortable. But in my paraglider I feel good flying above mountain peaks 3000m above sea level. Not sure how this works but it does 🙂I noticed one weird thing though: in Europe the passengers are asked to land on their feet, in South America it's landing on their butts. Not sure why that is.

I spent last two months paragliding solo all over in Colombia (with my own equipment and licensed), and I also went to meet local pilots and fly in Jardin. During my trip I never saw so many tourist as much as I saw in Jardin, but then again paragliding spots are often off the beaten tourist track in Colombia (except Jardin). Paragliding is a very special way to experience the country, privileged seat in the air in the environment where we humans naturally don't belong to. Colombia offers one of the most stunning views from the air for sure. It is awesome to see you enjoy our sport so much, that first impression is the most lasting one.

Bringing Back Incredible Memories! Watching this video took me right back to our unforgettable time in Alaska. I could totally relate to Sarah's experience since I, too, have a fear of heights. What an exhilarating adventure! Kudos to you all for creating such a fantastic video! 🎉 ~Gladys

I'm also afraid of heights and before the pandemic, had done a couple of things that challenged that fear. I have a spinal injury so likely won't ever get to experience this myself but enjoyed watching you!
@EricandSarah Жыл бұрын
Good for you for facing your fear! I’m sorry to hear about your injury… I suffer from chronic vertigo which is a large reason I avoid activities with heights cause it’s hard to ground myself. So I understand a bit how you feel 💛

We are going to Medellín next month to do this with my 13 year old son. Some people said you had to hike up first, but your video didn't show that. Did you need to hike up first. If not, what company did you use?

Oh so fun!! You’re going to love it! We actually did this from the town of Jardín, not Medellín. So unfortunately we can’t speak to the protocol in Medellín. But our tour included the jeep ride to the top in the price!
