Rakim is the closest thing to a Jazz singer, coexisting both inside and outside the beat. Rakim never allows the beat to cage his bars, nor does he allow his bars to isolate or dominate the beat. He's like a Thelonious Monk Beat Poet. He's the most complete, most complex and most original stylist to bless a mic. Many may folllow, but the Leader leads.

Rakim the GOAT

His lyrical ability spawned alot of our 90s artists. All the cool guys who spoke on beats were watching this video or listening to the delivery. Rakim created the cool guys who kicked intellectual rhymes and spoke from the street itself. Rakim was the voice direct from the concrete.
Rappers these days won't write lyrics with more than a couple syllables. One after another and with ease from Rakim. THIS WAS RAP.

@@gman7159 The both of you are correct. When They play rumble rap at the gym when I work out, I want the song to pass. When they play classic hip hop, my workout routine gets better.

“I'm also a sculpture, formed with structure Because of my culture, I'm equipped to construct the Technical styles that'll be full of technology” Rakim is just on another level with this. His ability to rhyme is in his DNA. It’s in his ‘culture’.

This classic perfectly demonstrates that hip hop is the most creative music genre the world has ever seen
@thecriticalthinkeroutsidet494710 ай бұрын
That's because this song is closer to jazz, which also represents Rakim's jazz-based influence in his vocal delivery and love for jazz instrumentation. Jazz also had a huge influence for others, too.
