I wish my teachers explained like you do! It's so much easier, but my teacher is like: Teacher: *hands out paper to do with NO explaining* Everyone has to complete the paper with ZERO explaination. Thank you Mr. Buffington. Here bcz of quarantine. College didn't teach me about math - The professor was nice, but it didn't sink in at the time....Now I need to teach it to my at-home quarantine kiddo and I have to teach it to myself first. His on-line teacher is not teaching. He is in the Advance program and so I think she doesn't think she needs to teach to the "AP" class. Hopefully, he will be at school next semester. Maybe then the teacher will actually teach. I hope!

Why does the line have to pass through 0,0 in order to be proportional?

Because if not then it is off kilter a bit. It can be a linear relationship, but not perfectly proportional. (not sure if that makes sense)

0/2 is the same proportion as 0/5. It's all 0. But honestly that's not a great example because it's just a boring line.
