Man, I'm starting to think that the 2020s is the decade of DC, especially with the impact of DC Fandome. I'm a fan of both Marvel and DC and I'll still watch the Phase 4 movies, but DC is starting to branch out with their films and I'm glad they're picking up the slack from a hit or miss decade in the 2010s. And, to be honest, the only Marvel films I'm truly hyped about is the next big crossover film, especially with rumors going around about the Russo brothers possibly directing a Secret Wars movie.

I don’t know... Their last movies even if they sounded good were terrible. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman are one of the worst movies I’ve seen. Justice League was a mess, Sucide Squad was a joke, Wonder Woman was okay in the first two acts then the third one wasn’t that good (in my opinion I know a lot of people loved that movie), Aquaman was alright, enjoyable but nothing to get hyped about, and Shazam was probably much better than I remember (circumstances of when I saw it weren’t the best) so I guess that one is okay. But compared to the last movies of the MCU these one don’t live up to that. Ofc Joker was an amazing movie but it isn’t even part of the DCU.

Jack Nicholson's Joker was great for what it was. Yeah, he's kinda just being himself, but that's the beauty of it. Jack Nicholson is naturally the Joker, probably more so than anyone else. Of course the movie itself was very cartoony compared to The Dark Knight and Joker, so it doesn't feel entirely fare to compare his performance to Heath Ledgers or Joaquin Phoenix's performances. He was supposed to be a cartoony Joker. His performance would surely be different if he was acting in a more realistic Batman movie. But overall I agree with this video. Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoeanix are both amazing, but in Joker we don't get to see as much Joker as we see Arthur Fleck. That makes Heath Ledgers performance still the ultimate Joker portrayal.

Your words reminded me of one Halloween during my middle school years where I desperately wanted to cosplay as Jack Nicholson's Joker but my dad directly [and even the online costume stores (indirectly)] said that no one remembers that character anymore, especially when regarding Heath Ledger's Joker and I got extremely upset at the time. In retrospect, his Joker was more comparable to a fad than an enduring performance. And it doesn't help that even during the 1980s, everyone still remembers villains like Darth Vader, Palpatine, and even Nicholson's Jack Torrance more than the Joker. I agree with Confused Matthew in his "Batman" (1989) review when he said that if they got Robin Williams, there would have been an engaging performance than an actor showing off their ego.

I feel an extreme bias ness towards him because we’ve had “better” performances. I get hate for enjoying those three more than the Dark Knight trilogy as films and characters. It’s not nostalgia either, I saw the 90’s trilogy after the Dark Knight Trilogy and within the past 8 years I grew to enjoy them more and more. I got to rewatch Batman 1989 in the theater for the 30th anniversary and it was such a good time! I was the only teen in the theater, everyone else was an adult or older! You know what else is clever about Heath Ledger's Joker in the way he gets Rachel killed? He purposefully made sure her bombs went off EARLIER than Harvey's. So, even if Batman were to deduce that the address for Rachel was actually for Harvey, it still would've been too late to save her.

When you actually think about it Joker saved Gotham City in The Dark Knight. All of his actions basically killed crime in Gotham and in The Dark Knight Rises Gotham became good. The hell? His intentions were to show corruption in the system but only to expose it not to solve it. He did so not because of a sense of justice or benevolent motives but just for his own sake. Been waiting for this video for so long! I watched Batman 1989 before Joker, and Nicholson (like the movie) was...fine, but not memorable. IMO, for an “Agent of Chaos”, Heath Ledger’s plans rely on coincidence way too often, creating holes in that movie. Still, his is the best, because as fantastic as Phoenix was, he was simply a guy with a laugh “disorder” who spiraled into villainy because of a social outrage we get ham-fisted explanations for at best (of COURSE the first guys he killed were Wall Street brokers who just happened to know “Send in the Clowns”!). “Joker” lacks subtlety, which is a shame, but to its credit it’s left ambiguous enough. Not sure I needed to see Thomas and Martha Wayne’s deaths AGAIN, with the pearls flying in the air... Yeah, excellent video, man! I loved it, and agree with your Joker ranking. I personally wouldn’t give TDK or Joker a 10/10 because I think they’re both a bit overrated, as much as I love the former, and admire many aspects of the latter. Joker is well-acted, has great production values, has an unreliable narrator, and is not needlessly violent, but takes advantage of the R rating; however, it’s a miserable film, more than I even anticipated for one centered on this character, and as mentioned, there’s a lack of subtlety that keeps it from standing the test of time as one of the best comic book movies ever (or what have you). Keep up the great work!

Yo Eric how do you feel about Chadwick Boseman death does he have best performance as being the black panther

He definitely was the one and ONLY Black Panther. And I would not be happy if Disney Marvel replaced him.

I am really interested to see what Barry Keoghan does with the character. I thoroughly agree with everything you've said, but it must be remembered that Nicholson's Joker had the most acreage to travel. In 1989, _Batman_ was advertised as a realistic take on Batman (and the Joker) as opposed to the only other live action Batman, which was, of course, Adam West's slapstick spoof. Cesar Romero's Joker, interestingly, was not even as threatening as Frank Gorshin's Riddler. (Oddly, it was Gorshin's mannerisms and over-the-top laugh that did it; watch the very first two episodes of the TV to get this gist. Riddler's girlfriend (played by Jill St. John) even dies by falling into the Batcomputer. This was the very darkest the show ever was and it was never allowed to get this dark again.) Today, Burton's take is seen a nonrealistic, but in 1989, with Richard Donner's Superman and the West TV series in the chronological background, Burton Batman was considered downright realistic rather than fantastical.

I just want to give an interesting theory on Rachel’s death. When she hears Harvey screaming when Batman arrives in his room, she thinks Bruce has already read her letter saying she chose to marry Harvey. It is highly possible that Rachel died thinking Bruce deliberately chose to save Harvey because he read the letter.
@EricCarter124 жыл бұрын
That's a very interesting theory. But Batman never said anything to indicate he was there. So I'm guessing that to her, it just as easily could have been the cops that came and took Harvey.

I also liked Caesar Romero when i was younger and Mark Hamil in the 90s and the Joker in the tv show Gotham was awesome especially with his origin story being from a traveling circus which would explain his clown attire

I thought Nicholson's Joker killed the mob boss after their "deal" was because during their meet Jack said he was was in charge of the Grissom crime family. But in the next scene the other mob boss said he was. So Joker killed him.

I don’t know, Jack Nicholsons joker killing people at random and having no end goal is more true to the agent of chaos quote that heath ledgers joker claimed to be than he actually was. Heaths joker obviously had plans, he just always lied about it. Jack Nicholson’s joker just seemed to be killing because he has a fun time doing it and wants to let everyone else in on the joke, the punchline is death.

I agree with not including the 60s Joker or the Harley Quinn Joker - they weren’t the main characters / villains / focus of those films. They were guest stars.

The other music in the video is the TellTales Batman music. And it all fits with the live action Batman material which is quite surprising.
