Returning to golf after a three month lay off, saw this last night, went to the range today, looks simple, man it was difficult to do keeping head back, eventually by concentrating on the follow through got there, the results were impressive. Even though it's cold here in England and the range balls feel like rocks, was definitely hitting it further, my carry with a 7 iron was averaging 150 yards, not bad for someone 70 this year.

Tried this great drill at the indoor simulator today. Finally finishing my swing and looking like Eric! Gained an extra 10-17 yards and smash factor was always 1.40 plus ! Thanks Eric best video in ages .

Eric, this really great! I have been waiting and requesting other video instructors to show precisely this! Very well explained and how to execute this position through the ball and into the follow through.........follow through! Seems none of the other online instructors think this is important. Thanks for helping to turn on the light bulb!

Hi Eric, would this also apply to the driver? My irons have been getting much better but still struggle with getting good contact with the driver. My biggest issue is getting my hands to roll over in time to square the face. Thanks so much for your videos. Peter

This is an awesome concept/drill. Curious, in this extended "finished" position should the club face be more 11 o'clock, 12, 1?

Thanks for explaining this Eric. HOWEVER, should you not slow down the hips through impact and let the hands fly past? If this is the case then a rotation of hips and shoulders facing target surely will impede the hand speed as hands will be travelling at same speed as hips and shoulders?
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Күн бұрын
Hey! Of course the arms/club will be traveling WAYYYY faster than any body segment. It's important to get the hand speed going EARLY in the downswing to "catch up" then all segments gotta go! There are A LOT of micro details we could discuss here beyond these comments but surely there are "average" rotation amounts of each segment of the body at each part of the swing you can find online for reference as to "how much" of each!

Can this help with the inconsistencies of fat/thin shots? On my round today I hit a few nasty thinny cutty ones and the odd fat shot, feel like I was sort of holding back on them a bit. So can this drill help you keep everything moving towards target better?

Hey! for sure yes---I would need to see your swing to say FOR SURE whats causing that issue but this cant hurt. If you cant solve it send videos to www.cogornogolf.com so I can see and help fix!

Hey Eric! I´ve been told in the past that my head and body are moving way too much forward in the downswing. Like Im really falling into my lead-side. If I look at the Trackman-Stats my Clubpath is way from inside (sometimes 8 or even 10 degrees). Is this a very unusal issue?? Thanks in advance!
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Күн бұрын
Hey! I see that a lot---usually a "better" player problem. I would certainly work to get 8-10 to the right to more like 2-4 to the right for smaller misses and tighter draws. I would really need to see your swing to say how to fix that. I would expect to fix that within a few swings. If you dont get it sorted send swings to www.cogornogolf.com so I can help
