Business and finance management is such an important skill that every creatives should learn but is way too over looked in the creative community. Everyone is talking about don't do it for the money, but in a realistic world you need to manage your assets to be successful financially. Doing so you can create more and not worry about your next rent payment. Thanks for another wholesome video

thank you for your authenticity and transparency! Great to hear about your growth as a person and business owner, and definitely inspiring to think about growing financially to a point where you can direct more of your growth into projects and creative elements without having to prioritize income over everything else.

On one hand I feel inspired watching this, knowing what's possible. On the other hand I feel discouraged because I've been full time 3 years now and I'm struggling to provide. I know it takes time to grow, but not knowing if the business will make through the year is not a fun time

Thank you Eric, i’m learning so much from you. Really appreciate your honesty and transparency. I’m transitioning from a 20+ year career as a UX Consultant and Web Developer, to running a successful charity part time and supporting this through my photography, filmmaking and Etsy store. You’ve really helped open my eyes and mind to focus more on my photography work, which has been my real passion since I was 7 years old. Thank you.

As someone with a full time corporate video job and trying to do as much work outside of work to set myself on the trajectory to take the leap full time is daunting, but I'm constantly trying to tell myself to slow down and enjoy the process. Seeing these videos you make over the years is encouraging to know what is possible. Much love from across the lake in Michigan!

Bro your videos are truly a gold mine for photographers. I just want to say thank you as I just found your videos at the beginning of this year. My wife and I decided we needed to rebuild her photography business and brand after watching your videos after being in photography for 5 years she was not getting a lot of growth. I will say with a lot of your advice we are now seeing that growth and we really are hoping the long term growth continues and the investments and time we put in pays off. Again keep making this content it truly helps and shows where we can be one day! ❤

Yeah I love these updates, Eric! I think it's a really brave thing to do, but for me it's super useful. People don't like to talk about money, but if you run your own business it's literally the number one thing to consider. I'm also 32 and I run a video company so it couldn't be more relevant. I look forward to the 2024 update!

Got into photography at the age of 31, in the middle of pandemic. I always have been artistic but had neglected it until I bought my own camera. Now it's my full time business. I'm a B2B enterprise. I offer product, food, lifestyle photography for business, as well as interior, architecture and other things business related. I agree to everything that you said. I diversified my source of income by providing education as well and getting into other businesses related to photography, such as design and printing.

Thanks for sharing! I'm blown away that so little of your networth is in equities! I've been surprised how much I've been able to save through my income as a cinematographer. I feel really optimistic about the future. I missed getting into this real estate bubble, but I'm excited to get in at a more reasonable prices. My goal right now is to find a way to sell digital products or media for access to scale without having to trade my time. Love the content, keep it up!

I really appreciate this video. I’m a local NYC photographer. While I think I’m finding my style it’s quite difficult for me to navigate finances to actually make my creative ideas come to life. Hey Eric! I'm sure we all appreciate the transparency. I think something else that we all think about as a tradeoff for freelancers/creatives is the tradeoff & balance between an artist vs being a businessman. As you've scaled your business and diversified, how much time would you say you spend being a businessman micromanaging and operating your businesses vs being able to idle and be free to lounge about and make things willy nilly?

Yeah man thank you so much for actually sharing where you’re at and attaching numbers to everything. It’s super helpful and HARD to find realistic numbers online. Question for you if you see this… I don’t see myself doing weddings long term, I’d rather do commercial work. However, I would rather make money with my gear and experience doing weddings solo (not second shooting anymore) than keep working as a server at a local restaurant lol. Is it worth investing into the wedding space now or should I just keep waiting to get into commercial stuff, which seems harder to find. Thanks!
@EricFloberg
@EricFloberg Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching!! Honestly, the wedding market is super easy to get into if you're diligent, make connections, and make good things. It's a great thing to have as a money-making tool, and you may find yourself enjoying it along the way. It's really about mentality at the end of the day. It may not feel exciting to shoot, but empathizing with your clients and recognizing that it's one of the most valuable days of their life, can truly change the approach and make it a magical experience.

Dude I appreciate you so much for making this kind of content, you have convinced me that I can make it as a beginner wedding photographer/bartender/uberdriver but yeah thanks to your wedding advice I got a crm (pixieset) have a delivery system (pictime) and more importantly can see a future career in what I love to do which is taking pictures and video, I've still got a long way to go before I start investing in the market, but knowing that this path can provide me a way to get out of debt and become the person I want to be is invaluable hopefully by next year I'll be able to afford the full course but you'll definitely see me at the 2 hour free module, will you be posting it here in case I miss it due to work?
