Excellent explanation and demonstration. Thank you very much. I have been searching for long to get clarity on the issue. So to make sure I understand this : If in general, there is a N matrai pallavi, that takes P cycles in a given thalam when rendered in chatusram. Then it will take P*(4/12) in tisram and 3 repetitions will last P cycles again. In chatusra tisram, it will take 1.5*P cycles and thus 2 reps will take 3*P cycles. In Mel kala CT the same 3*P cycles will fit 4 repetitions. For the case that Sri Vishnu has so melodiously and meticulously demonstrated N = 40 and P=1
