I bet a few people from a team also quit their job. If someone is behind a title and is gone a few years later and someone else is taking and making a sequal.. most of the time it's garbage. Because it's not from the same person. Sure you can use some assets from the earlier release but we all know it doesn't work that way. Can't capture a personal work by copying it and do something your own... sometimes good and sometimes bad things happen. The most games with later series done by other team doesn't feel the same and magic is gone. Best way is to stop with it and focus on other stuff. I guess that's why they have done

Agreed. 2 was my first BoF and my first video game "love". It was the first game I ever played which had an actual story. 1 kinda has a story too but it's pretty basic. Mostly "there's good dragons. there's bad dragons. go save the world. go to this place. now go to this place." just to guide you through the game. I'd call it more like a "scenario" than a "story". BoF2 however developed their characters and their backstory. You CARED about your companions and your relationship towards them. I was blown away the first time I saw the black and white sprites turn to color in the prologue. It wasn't just a neat effect. It put your mind into "story listening mode". BoF2 also has the best soundtrack IMO. This game absolutely needs a remake, if only to get a decent translation.

I wasnt referring to the mobile part of capcom's behavior was referring to sega's paranoia with PSO2 whether it would be profitable same with how capcom is paranoid about whether or not breath of fire would even have good sales.
@suiken31496 жыл бұрын
PSO2 was actually a huge success in Japan, it spanned to neighbor regions and actually have an anime about it. SEA's server was hosted by a third-party company. Nobody was willing to host US server and I doubt they even tried contacting Sega for it. Its reasonable for Sega to be doubtful about its success overseas. I mean the SEA server for PSO2 was already been shut down due to lack of player support. And the best games Sega has offerered like Yakuza or Valkyria Chronicles weren't exactly selling like pancakes either.
@RaidenKaiser6 жыл бұрын
@suiken well to see a petition with millions of people on it....i think its sega being just the same illogical sega they always are.......and i dont think its as big of a host issue as you think anime style mmos with a cult following actually do better than most other MMOs I mean sure anime style graphics attract a niche audience compared to games like BDO and WoW however they are also some of the most dedicated fans you can ever have you can piss all over them with the most atrocious behavior and youll still have that dedicated cult following pumping the living hell into micro transactions I mean look at elsword a game constantly criticized for KOG's behavior and yet the game is making billions a year by people cashing in for ice burners all the time . The only issue I see for sega to have a valid excuse to not port to the west is because of the arks layer project that makes people able to play in Japan and chances are if sega makes a deal with a western publisher they arent gonna treat their userbase as good as Japan treats theirs and to make matters worse Japan doesnt have the cyber security that South Korea does so trying to block people disgruntled with NA server players from playing on the Japan servers is a huge pain...

BoF is one of the best game franchises i played. My favourite is III (the gene system is amazing and fun, and the history is really good, character design is the best of the series too), the second for me is the II (the fusion system is very fun), and then IV (great but not fantastic and innovative), and the First ( Great start, but lacked in innovations that the others created and looks like a bit generic rpg for the time). I will not include V and VI, because i didnt played them (and they are horribly bad from what i heard and saw about them).

Breath of fire 3 was the first game i ever played, and i still have the original disc as well. Personally (in my opinion) it was better than BoF4, as i have enjoyed how Ryu aged after a certain point and how you could splice genes and get special forms unlike in breath of fire 4. Plus in breath of fire 4, most (if not all) forms looked the same transformation wise with the only visual differerence being the form when using your breath attack. At least breath of fire 3 had a many different forms depending on the genes you used. I feel like if capcom wanted to make success and please the fans instead of taking another risk on a new addition, they should remaster 3 and 4. Same style, maybe a few changes and additions, but a full remaster. I know i would pay for that. Anyone else agree?

I never will know how I got my hands on my Breath of Fire III copy when I was young, but I absolutely fell in love with the game, and honestly, I think it is the main reason why I love RPGS up until this day. I have played Breath of Fire IV many years later, however there is this certain charm that Breath of Fire III has that I will always love up until today. The story was absolutely great, the characters were memorable, the battle system was sweet and simple, and the fact you follow a young Ryu’s story all the way up to adulthood really felt like I was in a fairytale. I hope one day Capcom manages to understand what made Breath Of Fire such a successful series once again and hopefully they make another game that will be as successful as their older games.

@chrisg13415 жыл бұрын
BoF3 was one of my favorite childhood games. If they just went back to the original formula for Bof1-4 they'd make some good money. Right now the kids who grew up playing these games now have good jobs and want to throw money at nostalgia. Right now is the BEST time for Capcom to invest in a new BoF game. And I thin the best way to do it would be to release it on PS4 (or 5) first then port to Switch later. And of course make it a world-wide release. All you need is Ryu, Nina, a Worren character and a good story and there you go, millions in profits. Hell maybe I'll start a Kickstarter to fund and create a spiritual successor. I have no problem taking money from Capcom that they leave on the table.

They should sell the series to Namco Bandai if they do not want to make rpgs anymore... I doubt deep down even releases because of the genre.

Yup, I got mine while I was in the UK for 10 dollars as well in perfect condition, but I had to sell it last year, along with other games, for economical issues.

Erick Landon RPG I would love to find more PAL exclusive rpgs because their in English, if you know of any let me know. I also have a PAL psp version of Tales of Eternia or Tales of Destiny II here in the US. I didn't even know that game was released on psp until I found it at a pawn shop.

Be dope if capcom sees the octopath traveler sales and gets a bright idea - cashing in on the overwhelming interest of old school graphics and old school turn based combat and resurrects this sacred series

I think it could use some new ideas. The fantasy of going draconic for tons of damage is satisfying, but hard to balance. I would like to see TBS strategy gameplay, and maybe even some sort of alternate resource that causes loss of control when it runs out, for example. I'm not sure what the details should be, but I'd like to see the transformation come with problems that can't be solved with mana potions.

Matthew Bond that kinda is the D-Counter system, where using Dragon stuff too much drives your “Infection” and sends you to game over... a Dragon Quarter video also broke down how many actions you truly have from 0 to 100.00 and well using Dragon skills eats at that pool

Easy: They switched from console style rpg to action rpg. I personally think action rpgs are the way to go but of course players that still like boring games like pokemon, where all you do is issue 1 command at a time, will generally argue that they want the old style rpgs back. There are literally thousands of rpgs like this on steam that you can get for under 2 bucks, why would we want another phantasy star title that plays like them?
@jimbozinho-chefselites41926 жыл бұрын
I agree. The first 4 Phantasy Star games were set in the same universe. Why have they abandoned it?

Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire owners should learn more about Dragon Quest series, you don't have to change the original formula THAT MUCH to be a worldwide major hit

I played bof 3 for my first time as a rantal on ps2 It was a grand, and confusing time when I was first introduced to Ryu as a kid. I never got far past the mines. However I picked up the earlier games when I remembered it, and started with bof 1 then all the way currently with bof3. Favorite out of the two is Nana, and Katt. Anyway I hope they release a updated collection of sorts down the road such a underated gem that needs to be digged up.

I played 1,2,3, and 4. Loved the series. And then Dragon Quarter came along. I was so disappointed at first but the game eventually won my heart. It is one of my favorites. I still play it.
@omegagilgamesh5 жыл бұрын
Hey, with Dragon Quarter, if you know what you're doing, then other than the first dungeon (which is made easier because you're given a game-play-and-story-wise OP party member) the game is quite easy if you spend a couple hours exploiting the very convoluted dual save system. You can pretty easily get your characters to lvl 50 at a time when you're normally supposed to be, like, 10. If fact, many argue this exploit was INTENDED when they designed the weird AF save system.

Is the character of BOF IV the same as the older games or different characters like in the FF series?
@HornPlayer023 жыл бұрын
I’m sure no one will see this but Breath of Fire was my second RPG and in many ways the most important RPG I ever played. My first was Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars. I thought it was the most unique game ever in the series and didn’t know there was a whole RPG genre! So when I figured that out I picked up Breath of fire II at Blockbuster and fell in love. Soon after that I played Final Fantasy VII and that was it. Today I probably own about 100 RPGS and their practically all I play. Thank you for this video and for updating us on what happened to the series. If I ever won the Lotto I would buy it off of Capcom’s hands.

I believe at this point if Breath of Fire 7 were produced for PS4 or PS5 it would be sought after if they went back in the direction it originally succeeded in. The first 4 games are I believe well-respected today enough to be considered worthy of a sequel and possibly remasters as well. Everyone that I have talked to about Breath of Fire fondly remember this franchise (always referring to the first 4 games of course). I could be wrong, but I think Capcom should not leave money on the table with this.
