Does anyone else remember Shadow Madness on PS1? It 100% could be nostalgia making me remember it as a good game, but never got to finish it because of the last disc being scratched of the copy I had, but remember loving it. Erik left it off of his review of all PS1 JRPGs awhile back so almost thought I made the game up in my head. At this point I don't remember much outside of the main character, having a robot companion, and being on like a spaceship or submarine at some point when you had to switch the discs over.

Interesting watch. I played a couple of the old JRPGs on the list as a kid/teen but they didnt hook me to finish. Persona 5 was what got me into the genre despite me thinking it was a 3/5. Ive played some of this list while having others in the backlog for this year. Persona 4 Golden is probably my favorite, then Three Houses, and then the Cold steel games(3+4+R then 1+2 since i cant separate the mini arcs lol)

Agree with FF IV and Shining Force 1. FF IV for me is still the best JRPG ever made in a fairy tale sense and protagonist PoV cause it has that redempetion arc and it worked, good fast paced ATB combat that feels very much like a turn based sequence and excellent OST. Shining Force 1, was the entire reasion why i bought a Sega Genesis(megadrive in my country) and it was at a time where Sega does what Nintendo didn't and that was releasing japanese strategy rpgs in english in NA and Europe. Not some decades later, but at the same time. The first Fire Emblem games never released outside of Japan in the early 90ies. Sega therefore was better than Nintendo.

FF6 is still the King of JRPGs, The opening, the story, Kafka, the Train, each and every character in the game was the personal responsibility of a different member of the programming staff that gave each character a very unique personality and charisma. And at the end of the game you were shown all the characters including the ones you missed!!!

Nah. FF8 is the best FF. FF8 FF9 FF10 FF 7 FF 12 FF 6 - Let the hate begin. Biggest band wagon movement of the world. Funny how it only became the greatest ff in a smear campaign against 7. But everyone alive and gaming at the time can easily attest to which game was considered better. I’m not even a 7 fanboy. But 7 was considered the greatest game for a long time. Wrongly, of course, as 8 is far superior to both.
@pheagolol4 күн бұрын
@@raprepriproprupyup3220 story was nonsense, drawing magic sucked, enemies leveling with you sucked, queen of cards side quest sucked. gonna assume it was your first FF game considering how much favoritism you're showing it.
@raprepriproprupyup32204 күн бұрын
Nah. Started at FF1 and continued. Stopped at 8. Didn’t even want to play 9 because of the kiddy design. But glad I changed my mind. Personally loved the draw/junction system. Admittedly the queen side quest sucked, but the card game is easily the best mini game. Enemies scaling was hit or miss. But I also really enjoyed how 2’s stat system worked. Most people don’t like it. I love it. To each their own. But nice assumptions man. Plenty of people think 8 is the best. But it has always admittedly had a pretty divisive crowd. Kind of makes sense that that would mean that those horrible systems that make people hate it might just be the very systems people enjoy it for. Oh and while FF has great sound tracks across the board I personally like 8-9-10 the best. 7 had a few stand out, but overall score wasn’t as top and 12 was kind of boring. As I enjoy all the games… music definitely ends up playing a big factor on anything I’m spending well over 100 hours on
