3. Dragon Quest V -- Transcendent Story and Music and the impetus for Pokemon!! 2. Chrono Trigger -- No other game has ever given me that feeling of "Oh shit! Me and my friends have to time travel to save the world!" I mean it's just something I'll always be grateful for. 1. Breath of Fire 3 -- Grossly misunderstood game. Mechanically. Artistically. Story wise... this game is an absolute masterpiece. [[ For anyone who wonders why I say this. I'll just give you something to go on. Think about the first quest and the last quest in the game. Just hold them up next to one another and see what you start to notice. This is a good place to START if you want to take that journey of really understanding its story ]]

I wouldn't call Ryza turn-based. I would say Blue Reflection is though. The difference is that in BR, there is an ATB line moving, but it stops when you choose to take an action. In all the ryza games, time only stops when you choose an item. Time is constantly moving while you attack or use skills.

Pokémon red and blue was good, particularly when you consider the impact and appeal it had at the time. I never played a portable game with as much depth, strategy, and replayability before this point. Most Gameboy games were simple side scrollers or watered down arcade ports. I think the main problem with the Pokémon series is that it never really evolved (no pun intended). It's a very tired series at this point, and I'm sick to death of them. I think I just want a new Red/Blue 3D remake and leave it at that.

If you didn't include 87 Trails games, you may have actually had room for other RPGs. Your list was just as bloated with Trails games as the series is with the storyline. Don't get me wrong, the series has one of the best combat systems in the RPG genre, the problem is that each game is a slightly more polished and improved version of that combat system. Between the Yakuza games and Trails games, they're literally the Madden of RPGs. You could have did away with many of the Trails games and included one, you could have also did away with Breath of Fire 1 and Dragon Warrior because regardless of innovation, the games themselves aren't very good. Dragon Warrior was my first RPG, it only took me one game to realize it was a bad game, and that was Final Fantasy, but it's not even as good as Wizardry which predates it. And I mention Wizardry because there's no such thing as "JRPGs" The JRPG is just some term that people called these games because they popularized the genre and every other western developed RPG was actually mostly different. However when Wizardry and Ultima, two games released in the US and Europe that define what the genre is, it sounds pretty stupid when people constantly throw the term JRPG this and JRPG that. We don't call RPGs developed in the US URPGs, or Europe ERPGs, why? Because that would sound stupid as hell, so just imagine how you sound when you continue to throw JRPG out there every other word and on every video on a regular basis when the Japanese didn't even define the genre you're referencing.
