I totally enjoyed it. This is empire of the sun at their best... Their shows are budget, with decent effects, dancers and vocals. Also they do play their instruments live and manage all of the visuals and effects themselves. We can't expect their sound to be 100%, shit their are moving and doing things to keep the audience engaged. Lets not forget we are watching a video of the show, and it loses is luster. I rather be live but hey I got into them during covid, years after they stopped touring. But their music speaks to me.

The show is weak live, taking into account that most of the sounds are pre recorded and they are just three guys playing drums, guitars and piano. I like some of their (his) songs, but the live show is like a weird cabaret. He should hire two more musicians and fire the dancers.

A lot of the show is pre recorded background because the original songs are mostly that. Empire of the Sun was a visual band from its inception. The dancers are part of what makes Empire of the Sun Empire of the Sun. Empire of the Sun is much more than you give them credit for imo. I don't expect most people to have the same passion, but being at the show vs seeing it through a phone are two completely different experiences.

I know. I've been to a lot of live concerts, but despite the fact that I can enjoy the experience of a show too, it is not that different from those dj's that just push the PLAY button and behave like they are making the effort of their lives. David Guetta pushes a couple buttons and and makes a ton of money for it every time, Britney Spears does lip sync, Empire of the Sun do half of the work in their shows and Muse have a bit of pre recorded effects. I respect EotS because they are honest and don't hide they need the CD playing to achieve the same sounds like in the record. As Muse do, in a different level. On the other hand David Guetta is just a lazy swindler. I simply cant give the same creddit to this band than I do to a rock band that plays everything by themselves. Say Iron Maiden. It's not the kind of show I would pay for.

I get that...however I'd stillpay to see it, I mean the audience, the vibe and being part of that. Plus, when Lorde tours, it's just her a drummer and a keyboardist...all pre-recorded with her voice on backing vocals. Still, I might pay to see it and be part of that.

They’re singing live, they’re playing their instruments live. Luke has two different mics, one with effects and one without. He also has enough efx pedals for his guitar to make an engineer jealous. He can probably make his guitar sound like a train whistle if he wanted. It’s a theatrical show, and even though it’s apparent to me that they’re operating within a budget, it’s also apparent that they’re trying to give the audience as good a performance as possible.
