As someone who identifies as asexual, Issac story hit really close to home for me. Seeing everyone else around you getting into relationships, when you don’t experience that kind of attraction. Their’s always that fear of your friends leaving you behind to focus on their partners. It’s even harder when you’re young and don’t realize terms like aromantic and asexual exist. You worry that their is something wrong with you and that others will view you as immature or just picky. It’s why I’m so glad to see this kind of representation in a show for teens, and that it’s become so popular. If even one kid is able to understand themselves sooner, it’s all worth it.

I can relate 100%. I essentially was Isaac when I was in high school, except for me it was band instead of books. (I also never had a celebrity crush!) But that was in the ‘90s and there was literally no awareness whatsoever of asexuality at the time. And terms like gray and demisexual wouldn’t be coined for another ~20 years. I’ve been through a lot of self-discovery over the past year or so thanks to Heartstopper. I’ve identified as gay since I was a teenager and been immersed in the queer community ever since, but I just never knew about the whole ace spectrum and it’s been quite a revelation. I understand basically everything about my life so much better now.

one of my favorite acting moments is how Mr. Farouk turns into a young boy by the vending machine when Mr. Ajayi starts flirting with him. so freaking wholesome! 💓💜💙

And yet we also see Mr. Ajayi being incredibly sexy when they finally kiss. Which I was NOT expecting. I always loved Mr. Ajayi, but this episode showed me a whole other side to him.

I’m aroace and Isaac’s storyline is actually what made me start Heartstopper in the first place. Having a character like this when I was younger would have blown my mind and probably helped me realize my own ace- and aro-ness a lot sooner. It’s such a fun surprise when reactors are 1, aware that asexuality and aromanticism exist, and 2, are actually knowledgeable about it. I haven’t seen that video you recommended, but I’m going to watch it now.

Charlie mumbled into the pillow "why are we like this?" - one of their big couple catch-phrases from season 1. And Nick is very emotionally mature. And a master communicator.

As impractical as it might be in reality, it still warms my heart that a whole roomful of people was, at least in theory, prepared to keep Nick's secret if he'd asked them to.

I feel so bad for James and Isaac this episode. James especially since he's essentially going through the dark thoughts that Charlie had toward the end of episode 3 season 1. What makes it worse though is that Isaac actually did get up and leave because Isaac doesn't understand what he's feeling, or not feeling. Meanwhile, poor James who just showed incredible vulnerability to Isaac feels completely heartbroken, since his first kiss ended up the way it did. I want the best for these two adorable lil beans. Seeing them crying hurts me.

“Kid 1” is such a shit-stirrer! FWIW, you’ll notice in the Eiffel Tower scenes and a couple other places that they’re hanging out a lot with Harry’s gang.
