To be fair to Darcy, I understand that a lot of tourists think that the Mona Lisa is underwhelming when they finally see it. It’s actually pretty tiny compared to some of the other artworks in the Louvre.

Seeing Mr. Farouk being so uncharacteristically warm with Charlie, his favorite student, had to have endeared him to Mr. Ajayi. :) Mr. Farouk was also weirdly lenient letting Charlie personally return Nick’s pen to him during GCSE revision, so maybe he’s got a soft spot for him. I think a lot of things feel out of control in Charlie’s life right now. We know he’s felt desperate to manage every aspect of Nick’s coming out and prevent him from experiencing any stress or pain - obviously impossible. The hickey’s put a lot of unwanted attention on Charlie. Even if everyone isn’t being totally vicious, it has to be bringing back some bad memories. At this point Charlie seems much more anxious about Nick being outed than Nick is. Ben’s been lurking in the background, creepily staring at Charlie, and Charlie’s looked very visibly uncomfortable around him. I think Charlie’s coursework debacle was another situation where he felt things were slipping out of his control, and his way of coping (not eating, avoiding the work at all costs, lying about it) was very unhealthy. We saw this behavior in season 1 too. Charlie did everything he could to protect Nick from being outed or bullied, and when he felt things were getting out of control after the cinema fight with Harry, he tried to break things off with Nick and slipped into unhealthy coping mechanisms, isolating himself and not eating. This has all been building up slowly in the background. I won’t say what it was, but you seemed to notice a moment of foreshadowing in this episode that I haven’t seen other reactors clock. Charlie’s ability to lie about things that are causing him pain is indeed concerning. Needless to say, therapy is needed! Your suspicion that Darcy might not be able to *accept* Tara’s love for her, also very astute.

honestly, Mr. Farouk def has to have a soft spot for Charlie, there's no way the teachers don't all know about the bullying, and they were probably told to keep a close eye and make sure nothing else happens

I love the fact that, even though Tao gave Nick such a hard time in season one, one driving force behind Elle deciding to kiss him was because of the conversation with Nick. Also, I wonder about the fact that Charlie did not share with Nick that Ben has been desperately trying to have a discussion.

Nick definitely knew what he was doing when talking to Elle about feelings. He's done the same with Tao in the previous episode. He's been gently getting them to communicate and get together. He's continuously a very observant and philosophical friend to everyone.

yes, for anorexia the best thing is therapy, there are lots of different types of eating disorders and some can be cured in other ways but for most, therapy is the best solution!

I definitely think what Isaac said to him got to him a bit. I'm with you in that I want people who do bad things in this show to become better people and get their shit together. Heartstopper has a way of inspiring empathy in everyone, even its viewers. well, for the most part. ❤

I’m sure what Isaac said to him helped but Harry is also aware that the rift between him and Nick is costing him friends, because people are finally seeing what a jerk he is. Harry is used to being the top dog in his little circle and now he’s facing the reality that some of the other kids are becoming more mature and don’t want to associate with someone who is known to be a homophobe and a bully.

*Mr. Ajayi. Charlie might think it’s something he has control over, but stress is something everyone has, and it can cause physiological effects. I think he controls it, but once something that detrimental to your health is a habit, it becomes to hard to shake, and managing stress in that way is harmful and not a feasible way to handle stress. Season one left little hints with Charlie playing with his soggy cereal or closing his lunch box after looking at it, refusing popcorn at the movie theater, and saying no to Tori offering to make pizza. While it was an episode with a pervasive issue rearing itself more and more this season, it is a cute episode. Tao and Elle, FINALLY. Issac scolds Harry. They visit the Eiffel Tower and go to the Louvre Museum. Charlie gets to witness Nick’s French speaking skills that made him cringe/blush lol.
