Hello Dr. Eric I am working in a Thorax surgery department . one of the routine tests that we carry out for patients with lung tumor is spiro-ergometry and scintigraphy to determine the operability of the patients . I guess a lesson on pulmonary embolus would be highly instructive for all residents and you can then explain the Ventilation - Perfusion scan . Plus it would be highly informative to talk a little bit about exercise or stress tests . Thank you for your highly needed efforts .

Hello , Regarding VC parameters My spirometry machine does not calculate the TLC and RV and does not tell the preducted value for age height ,sex for them.instead , It measures VC , IRV ,ERV, TV , IVC, EVC with predicted values. So, how to measure manually TLC and RR and get predicted values? is it possible? If not , are the measured values equal to TLC and RV in evaluating wheter the disease is obstructive or restrictive?
@StrongMed2 жыл бұрын
Spirometry doesn't include TLC and RV - the machines are literally unable to measure/calculate these values. The measurement of lung volumes is the topic of the 3 lesson in this PFT series.

@StrongMed11 жыл бұрын
I realized that some subscribers may not be into chest X-rays, so I decided to mix in a couple of other topics. I'm planning 2 more PFT videos in the next couple of days, then back to lesson 7 of chest X-rays.

My PFT results are as FEV1 and FVC is both 77 percent against prediction, FEV!/ FVC is 0.81, PEF and MVV value is 92 percent and 91 percent against prediction. Is is obstructive or restrictive?

I'm sorry, but I can't interpret the personal test results of individual viewers. I recommend speaking with the physician who had ordered the PFTs for you.

@StrongMed10 жыл бұрын
drdone1 You may find the rest of the videos in the PFT series answer some of your questions. As far as new videos specifically about pulmonary physiology, I hope to make them at some point, but I'm so far behind on fulfilling viewer requests, that I can't make any predictions on when I'll get to them. I'm very sorry.

I applied for disability and they sent me for a PFT but I don’t know how to read it. Is there anyone that read them for me? I have chronic COPD, among other things. I just want to see if someone can tell me what the results are.
