An introduction and broad overview of the cardiovascular system, including anatomy of the heart and blood vessels, the cardiac cycle, and cardiac histology. This is starting at the basics to bring all viewers up to the same starting point before doing deep dives on future topics.

Hello everyone! This is the first video of a planned 14-15 video series on cardiovascular physiology (Playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLYojB5NEEakWY3ZS0acDMw4nbEZV-y7pk ). Each video is 15-30 minutes in length. It's starting at the basics so that viewers with different backgrounds (e.g. high school vs. undergrad, premed vs. non premed, etc...) can have the same background knowledge before deep dives on subsequent topics. The tentative list of video topics: Overview of the CV system (i.e. this video) The Cardiac Action Potential Excitation-Contraction Coupling Cardiac Mechanics (preload, afterload, contractility, ejection fraction) The Cardiac Cycle and PV Loops (including cardiac work) Hemodynamics Viscosity and Turbulence Arterial Blood Pressure Nervous System Regulation of the Cardiovascular System Hormonal Regulation of the Cardiovascular System Integration of CV Regulation (i.e. complete description of what your CV system does during exercise, dehydration, septic shock, weightlessness, etc...) Vascular Biology Coronary Circulation The Microcirculation and Lymphatics Cardiac Embryology If this is successful, the following stage would be to intersperse path and pharm topics into the playlist (e.g. pathophysiology of heart failure following cardiac mechanics, atherosclerosis following vascular biology, etc...), with the eventual goal of replicating the content of a medical school CV organ block. Let me know what you think!

I teach anatomy and physiology to high school students. Much of what Dr. Strong covers in his videos is beyond the scope of my course. However, his videos represent the epitome of what educational KZbin videos should look like. There is no "flash" or "bang" to distract the viewer, just high-quality graphics accompanied by his clear and concise instruction. He is clearly a person who is committed to education. Thank you, Dr. Strong for your efforts, and keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for the kind words! You've probably already discovered this, but Crash Course Anatomy & Physiology is pretty good and seems close to high school level. Also, the channel Corporis doesn't have a complete A&P playlist, but has some great stand alone videos at the high school and college level, including some interesting ones on the history of medicine.
@hubertchristopher9180
@hubertchristopher9180 2 жыл бұрын
@@StrongMed I am indeed familiar with both of those channels. While Crash Course is excellent, I have a couple of problems with it. The speed of narration can be overwhelming for some students. They really try to pack a lot of information into a 10-15 minute video. Additionally, some of the animations are superfluous and distracting at times. I feel that many of my students would appreciate the very clear, systematic approach that you use. Some of your videos I could certainly use for my class, most go above and beyond what my students are ready for. I really enjoyed your introductory video on hemostasis. It provides a better foundation for the topic than anything I have read in the A & P textbooks. I could use this video, the subsequent videos are more than likely too much for my students. I plan to watch the whole series this summer. I find the topic very complex, frustrating, yet interesting. Keep doing what you do. I haven't visited Patreon yet, but I plan on doing so. Thank you!

My opinion of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine: I'm glad I was able to get Pfizer's... Seriously though, maybe once/if it's authorized in the US, I'll tackle it. But its whole story is a bit of a cluster. I don't understand how a major company could make such unforced errors with something this big.

Remember the paradox of deoxygenated venous blood from the lung tissue returning to the left atrium….Bronchial Venous return …which in cardiac surgery for mitral valve replacement can flood the field for a cardiac surgeon …the ONE anomaly of deoxygenated blood returning to an oxygenated blood chamber …perfusionists know this well
