I have seen one of these kinds of 2-10-0 “Decapod” Steam Locomotives in operation at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois back in October 7th and 8th 2023 which was Frisco 1630 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1918).

Unique and unusual back story for this locomotive. I never knew America made trains for other countries. I like the cow cars and the Hershey cars in the train. Great review Eric!

Hi Eric from Scotland. Hope you and Lisa are well and looking forward to Spring. Love the Decapod, color may not be exact but has a good industrial look. Have shared your KZbin details with a relation down in Ross-on-wye in Herefordshire in England. Spreading the word. Bill

I noticed Lionel hasn't been putting the correct minimum curve on all the boxes. The L1 box said O54 but the catalog said O42 (O42 is correct). The I1 said O72, but that's only for the long haul tender. Mine was the short tender (O54) but still said O72 on the box. I really think this locomotive is beautiful. I like the blue color.

This is fairly normal for the Chinese factories pumping out cheap junk. They often let the little stuff like box printing, colors, and fonts slip because they don’t care at all about the American idiots paying a premium for the junk, they know they’re just making disposable junk.

I actually saw the Seaboard 544 today at the nc transportation museum. And since there was hardly anyone there today because of rain I was able to climb into the cab. Of course they have it inside the roundhouse. Such a cool place,glad I live about 20 minutes away and can stop pretty regularly. Thanks for the videos.

Being a OO modeller, the idea of a wired tender connection not being the norm is still surprising to me.
@DalekPratt19637 ай бұрын
The only thing that I'm not really a fan of with this model is the fact Lionel was contacted by the Illinois Railway Museum asking if they could help fix the inaccuracies on their IRM 1630 model. And Lionel straight up rejected their help saying they didn't want to make the changes. And yes, I did ask someone at the museum last year at their model train shop and they did in fact reply with the information presented above.

Nice video, as always. The Russian Decapods and the Milwaukee Road Little Joe electrics both have such a fascinating history behind them. I was tempted to get the USA version and kit bash it to make it look like a Soviet Railways YE class with red running gear and Soviet emblems adorned on it. I decided ultimately to pass up on it.

That is a very nice locomotive. The #1 bell and whistle are always the most prototypical to me and my favorites. The gap between the engine and tender doesn't seem too bad and the drop plate helps it look closer. The tether is just fine, too and visually helps make the gap look smaller. I only own one engine that isn't post-war or MPC and that is an MTH Rail King Southern Ps-4 Pacific with the tether and I like having it. Good connectivity and not much to go wrong. A great review, as always.

That looks amazing. To me, Whistle #4 sounds like a toy a kid would play with. If I set up a layout for Lionel Legacy stuff, I'll 3d print a housing for the electronics inside the Legacy remote in case the internals are fine but the outside is cracked. I don't like taking chances when it comes to getting zapped.

The color is wrong ... pure and simple. Typical of Lionel Trains in the 21st century.
@SignalLightProductions7 ай бұрын
@@markkilgore938 we've got multiple pieces of Russian iron jacketing at the museum I'm at and they're pretty close. I'm not denying that Lionel has botched many colors lately but this isn't one of them.

interesting thing bout the erie is that in the 1880s and 1890s they saw the susquehanna as a threat to their operation and bought up most of the susquehanna's stock and the erie became the majority shareholder. Because of that the susquehanna also had russian decapods too but in the early 1930s due to the great depression, all ties with the erie were severed and walter kidd was named as the new trustee of the line and the wilkes barre and easton a susquehanna subsidiary was shut down.
