Those two wires running to the radio likely were a FM injector which is probably why the FM reception was bad after cutting it out. May need to pull the radio to remove the tap. Great work!

I did 98% of the work on the 2006 Odyssey (EXL/RES like this one) that we bought new and drove 12 years and 227,000 miles and so this series brings back so many memories. The rear of the right side front seat detached itself similarly, for instance. I hope you find a good owner for this Ody.

I remember when these were brand new and I did PDIs on them. (Pre-Delivery Inspections). If I remember these were known for rear motor mounts. The rear jack tools, did make a rattle noise. Some customers complained about it some didn't even hear it. The fix was just putting felt tape around the tools and drive with the customer after the fix.

Hey Eric, great video. All that labor would have made that Honda a money pit to anyone who purchased it. Having a Honda master tech work for 'free' is amazingly charitable of you. I Like the removal of the aftermarket sat receiver. You mentioned the antenna sucks, which made my alarm bells go off. I'm pretty sure those things all did fm signal injection by going in between the antenna lead and the radio. Cutting it out might have effectively removed the antenna. Fwiw, I would recommend looking behind that radio to yank the rest of that junk out. Thanks for the videos.

Eric, the item that you had mentioned at time 6:35 looks like a SiriusXM satellite radio antenna and the associated wires and power supply. I have the same set up in my trucks and my van. In one of my trucks and in my van it didn't come with SiriusXM. The other truck came from the factory with Sirius but the antenna is shot. So I just added the kit to that truck as well. I already had the equipment from the vehicle I traded in for that truck. I just had to install it.

You can make the job of removing the sliding door track cover a lot easier by closing the door, and right when it's about to make the 90 degree turn close to the end of the track, pull the handle again to stop it. This gives you a point where the door is open enough that you can still push the cover forward to get it off, but not so open that the window to get the panel off without scratching anything is super tight.
@mikeluscher1593 жыл бұрын
Eric, I'd highly recommend just putting a VCMuzzler on this 3.5 to preserve what life it has left VCM has led to the early demise of many a serviceable J Series vehicle
@wiimaster28473 жыл бұрын
He addressed this earlier. He says he's never had any issues with it, which is fine, but many people have. I'd go one step further and put on a VCMTuner II. Sure, it's more expensive than a VCMuzzler, but it's active and never has to be adjusted for climate, which is good for the next owner, they'll never have to worry about it.
@ericthecarguy3 жыл бұрын
That comes up in every video about this van, but as I previously stated, I haven't seen the issue. That said, I'm getting the PCM in this van reflashed to deal with the code. If that fixes the problem, then those that are deleting they system may want to take note. If all it takes is a reflash to correct the problem, there is no need to delete the system. FYI, the reflash falls under a service bulletin which could possibly be covered under warranty. I'll cover this in the next episode.

Eric, you don’t know the struggle of working with e-ring clips until you’ve had a dozen fly off while working on building an RC car. Like all specialty fasteners, they have a tool for those “Jesus Clips” and trust me, its worth investing into even if you don’t use it daily.
@Seegalgalguntijak3 жыл бұрын
The German company Sonax specializes in anything that you might want or need to clean up anyting about and around and also inside a car. I'm sure they have some leather cleaning and reconditioning solution which could bring those seats back really nice. Of course, the cracks would still be there (maybe less prominent), but all the discoloration would be gone. You should see if you can give their US department a ring and see what they can do for you, after all fixing it forward is a noble cause!

Eric I have a question for ya, so someone just installed the fuel pump for me 6 months ago so i know it cant be bad yet right ? however i have this cheap habit of always running my gas tank on half full to almost empty. so i think some debris has been caught in the check valve because anytime i try to crank car in the morning it takes a short while before it catches and then once i start driving ? if i stop and start again it fires up immediately. so this just happens if i havent driven the car overnight. so i am almost certain debris from driving the car with almost empty tank has clogged up the check valve. so my question is this ? if i buy a full tank of gas will this dislodge the debris from the fuel pump check valve seeing as it will be fully immersed in petrol and so maybe the debris will be dislodged ? is this a good theoretical scenario ?

Sometimes it takes like 2 tries to open them. The rollers don't seem to have Play and there's nothing blocking the rails. Could it be the motor or cables?

I see the P2647 at here at the Acura dealer pretty often. R&R the VTEC solenoid assembly and you're good to go. Usually caused by lack of oil changes and varnish buildup. The seat belt switch is covered under Honda's lifetime seatbelt warranty, but Eric, you probably know that. Other 2 SRS codes I haven't really come across. Kinda surprised I didn't see a OPDM code.
