The Clare Fischer era is my favorite Prince era. His string arrangements on this, Christopher Tracy's Parade, Alexa de Paris, Pink Cashmere and The Screams of Passion are amazing!
@kevinthebassfelon13045 жыл бұрын
@ James M. Browne.......Yes on "The Screams of Passion", and Hell Fuck Yeah on "Pink Cashmere"..... My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SLOW JAM from the man... Prince! Actually, my FAVE Slow Jam EVER, from Anyone, Ever. That is the cut. CD 1, track 13. Un-Fucking-Real..... I MC'ed strip clubs and a few of the girls loved this song for their 2nd song.... and only once did I try to cut it, as there was Not a single person tipping out of the four guys [Really slow start that day.] there. I got ripped apart for trying to cut it; She was all nice about it on stage, but she was all claws and teeth in my DJ booth...... and after work when we were smoking weed at her house ;-}...... which was fine with me. goddamn, Good Times!! That had to be my hour and 45 minutes of Fame; WAY Over the Allotted 15 minutes of Fame.

I had bought this album in 1985 ( on cassette tape of course) as any die-hard Prince fan in the 80s did--I loved this album. I wish I could get it on CD or download it from somewhere. I haven't listened to it in ages. Prince was such a talented man and never will be duplicated.

@josebrown5961 Жыл бұрын
@@bombboysI don’t believe this album was ever released on CD in the US. I can see that it would be hard to find. I’m in a southern city that has a good Country, Blues, and Rock presence. Funk and R&B are a bit harder to get. But there is a vibrant collector’s community. They used to have a Record Convention every year. Dealers from around the world come and bring their stuff. I haven’t been in years but I used to spend 100 bucks easy at that thing. I am old school and would not trust buying old vinyl on line. You should find a good old fashioned “wrecka stow” and start there.

Prince discovered a lot of good, talented singers/musicians, and I wish The Family would come-out with another album in 2022. I miss that band! Peace!

They are actually back and reformed. You can also catch the occasional live show in MN or LA. But Prince when alive would not let them use the name, The Family, as he was no longer composing the music. So you can now find them under the name, FDeluxe. Same original members. Some new tracks and even killer remixes. Check out a new track of theirs called "Sanctified." FDeluxe. Check em out,

He got his cut. Its a business. He came in knowing that. Warner Brothers wanted Maurice White from Earth Wind and Fire to produce his first album. He said, no way. Not trying to knock your point. He did help a lot of people, but he got his cut.

One more thing. The Time use to open for him. They would wear out the crowd before his set, he hated that. Purple Rain is based on SOME true facts. Vanity left him for Motown. Darling Nikki.

@@starrcompany3275 Please don't read with a preconceived answer. Read again WARNER BROTHERS wanted White. Prince wanted to do it HIS WAY, NOT THEIR WAY. For You was, and IS awesome. With respect sign language don't work online. I CANT make it any clearer partner.

Love it and done a review on the Family album on my channel. Listening to this song, you get the feeling that it was meant for a Morris Day/Time project. The lyrics appeal to him and Morris's book mentions that before he left Prince after Purple Rain, Prince had offered him a solo album, but with cuts chosen and selected by Prince - Morris said no and listening to this cut, I think of Morris straight away - anyone else feel me here?
