This style of orchestration scored for a piece written in the 1890s is yet another testament to just how far ahead of the times Erik Satie actually was.

Yes! Way ahead...Alan Gilmor's book on Satie is immense and fruitful reading....

@@Mr-Prasguerman Yes, but this style of orchestration is highly modern, yet still benefits this particular piece by Satie -- which might indicate this piece as being ahead of its time.

Underrated. Criminally underrated, the music is so grey and quirky i love it

This movie of orchestra is more beautiful, more appreciative and more deeply understandable of abundant expressions of this tune than listening by only piano

I think we have a cluster of people here to thank for this miracle of musicological Uspudship. Notably the Erik Satie who died 2 years before 1927 & missed the Uspud premiere before 1944. His reincarnated uploading self (aka Erik Satie) too many triumphs to elucidate here. Orchestrater Johannes Schöllhorn = Johannes Schöllhorn is a contemporary German composer. Schöllhorn grew up in Marktoberdorf. He studied musical composition with Klaus Huber, Emmanuel Nunes and Mathias Spahlinger and music theory with Peter Förtig at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. He also attended conducting courses with Péter Eötvös. Wikipedia Born: 30 June 1962 (age 59 years), Murnau am Staffelsee, Germany

It is a beautiful orchestration. When hearing the piano version, I could not expect for more beautiful orchestral sounds. It does justice to the beautiful chords and ideas of the author.

Ooh I didn’t know this was full on orchestrated beyond the remarks in the piano score (even if not by Satie), so cool!

This is an extraordinarily successful triumph, despite its lack of success. The score is basically Ogival in shape & has been beautifully etched out into visionary form by its magnificent orchestration. Do we have the first of Erik's 3-movement Symphonies already on board ?

Incredible. This music benefits so much from the orchestration (which, as far as I understood, isn't by Satie himself, please correct me if I'm wrong). I anyhow love both, this and the piano version. But this is definitely worth a representation.
