@13:10 you just pointed out to people that, claiming your own birth as a 'traumatic incident' through ACC would have got you government assistance for the life of your child. I wont be voting for you.

Thanks for commenting your thoughts. The explanation behind this statement is that the funding model when children with disabilities go to school is different. As an example, two children with the same disability - who both require the same level of care to attend school. The child who is ACC funded will receive more support at school than the child that is MOE funded. The ability to support children with disabilities through school means that the likelihood of them falling through the cracks and becoming dependant on the government is much less. I want to see more children have the ability to become contributing members of society and that only happens if they have the same opportunities to an education as everyone else. They should be funded at school based on their need, not how they received the disability. That is the point of my statement. Properly funding education should be treated as an investment, not as an expenditure. I would like to see less people dependant on the government and more people in employment.

@@ErikaHarveyNZ I agree with you whole heartedly on the last point you made about seeing less people dependant on tax payer handouts. Sadly whenever there is a system in place, there's always some form of loopholes, and (human nature as it is) people start jumping through them. Pointing them out, doesn't help. Neither does abdicating personal responsibility. Breeding is still a choice. My biggest concern in the future woke society we are heading towards, is that people start jumping through these loopholes that only get wider as we... A) begin to accept that a denied application is a form of discrimination, and stop doing it. Or B) recognise, failure to accept personal responsibility for the situations we are in becomes the accepted norm, and someone else should pay.

@@AJ-oj5eu I could see where you were going with your comment and thought I should explain my point. We're on the same page as I too want to see more people less dependant on the government in the longterm and believe that by supporting people in education properly, we can do that.
