Hi Erika. First off, please disregard the very small minority of critics to your reactions, I believe the large majority of Morrisette's fans appreciate your detailed breakdown of her vocal performances. You are spreading the word to people unfamiliar to her, on WHY Morrisette Amon is a master world class singer! Thank you for this wonderful analysis/reaction to her singing "Akin Ka Na Lang", although I do not understand the words, music/singing is universal and I loved the song. Massive respect to you on analyzing her song, by trying to sing along to a non-native language. Please explore more songs from the "Asian Phoenix" at your convenience!

Erika this is brilliant. You are very courageous for analyzing such a talented musician who sings in a language away from your comfort zone. That’s commendable.I also thank you for introducing Morissette to your audience, given that most of us did not know her. And that gets, in my opinion, to the essence of music. It’s the one language that brings people together, crossing cultural and geographic boundaries, uniting all of us under the most basic common thread. Our humanity. I loved this reaction and I Thank you!

I've listened to a couple of dozen reactors, and you are by far the best analyst of them all in covering and explaining the subtle vocal techniques that make for a great singer. It's such a pleasure to see you pointing out all the little stylistic touches that I can hear, but which almost no other vocal coaches comment on. Those who just want to listen to the song without much commentary shouldn't criticize you for being such a good teacher. Thanks for your efforts.

A Vocal coach/reactor ( while reacting to this song ), said that Filipino language is singer friendly. That's true because the language has no limit to all letters and words that makes a Filipino singer like Mori to be able to sing in any genre and in basically all languages available. From slow to fast and very fast, classical, etc. Her extra skills are "Intentional vocal breaks and Controlled whistles" 😍🏆

Morrissette describes her crack/squeaks as a flip to her whistle register... I noticed alot of other singers describe whistle as a the highest part of their head voice but Mariah and Morrissette describe it almost as a 3rd register where they feel another flip from head voice to whistle register... like its its own register. Its kinda interesting coz some people can hit the same high note in the same octave but you can tell mimi and morri do it in a different register.

Yeah, that's what most of us said the first time we heard her whistle notes. I've seen other videos where they typed it Ed said that long belting phrase was 15 seconds without a breath which is utterly insane. To me the little run at the end followed by the hums sounds very Whitney Houston inspired.

You are probably the only vocal analyst who uses Morrisette's actual language to make your commentary. Maybe the resonance she makes is also because in our language as we don't have a long A sound; only the short A sound with a rounded mouth. Personally, I highly appreciate your style of analyzing. Kudos to you. 🥰

Great analysis you got! This LIVE performance of hers was years ago! And she was sitting with no vocal effects added! The way she whistles is so unexpected like she didn't even take some breath before doing it :0 And we should not miss the part where she was not breathing for 14 seconds!!! Despite how technical she is, at the same time she was emotional which describes a true performance :) Never mind those annoying people that bashes you. There are two types of these people; one is that some are Morissette haters pretending to be a fan to bash Morissette's reactors like you because they wanted you to stop listening to her, and second, some are indeed Morissette's fans but not interested in any educational or analysis stuff so just ignore them. Morissette even said in her interviews that just call our bashers "pimples" because they are annoying and we can't do anything about them. When we were just started in puberty stage, having pimples is a sign of growing up, so now, if you see any pimples (bashers), it is a sign that you and your channel are growing up ;) More power to your channel! And can't wait for more Mori

Hello, Erika. I'd like you to know that I really enjoyed watching your analysis of Morissette singing "Akin Ka Na Lang".❤ This performance is by far my most favorite. First, it is her original, not a cover, so this song will forever belong to Morissette, whoever may be or will be making a cover or rendition of it. Second, it was in this performance where she was able to showcase a lot of her singing skills and techniques, which you were able to analyze and explain to us. I appreciate that you took notice of these nuances, even though how small or subtle they are, but adding them together and with those "signature skills" or "trademark techniques" of Mori like the squeaks (vocal breaks), growls, and whistle notes, plus the insane amount of breath control she has, created this masterful piece, an iconic song that propelled Mori into recognition worldwide. 💖 I also appreciate that you let us know and hear the variations that a singer can do with every note and every phrase and verse, such as whether to use chest, mixed or head voice, straight tone or with vibrato, and I like how you appreciate and agree with the stylistic choices Mori made. It is okay with me even if you pause a lot, because you were able to make a comment and analysis on the spot. I understand that this is more of an analysis and breakdown, with some valuable vocal lessons, rather than just a reaction. For your next Morissette analysis, I recommend her recent performance of "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" also on the Wish Bus. It was part of a soundtrack for a Philippine TV drama series, and it is now trending and "making waves" so to speak. It also has just won in the Asian Academy Creative Awards. It is also in Tagalog (Filipino) language, so be ready with your "translator". Lastly, I like how you are trying to learn Tagalog. Not only it will add to your vocabulary and language skills, but it will be helpful to you as well to create content about Filipino singers who, I am proud to say, are among the best vocalists in the world. ❤

Other popular artists' whistles are very predictable because they had to do a full break, then whistle. Morissette usually do whistles anywhere that even us longtime fans, sometimes doesn't know she will pull it. 😍🏆

Right. And many times, her whistle placements are even too risky to do in live, usually in a preceded by a demanding high or long belt before whistling. Commend her for commiting these vocals.

Erika that was a great analysis and reaction to Morissette. Many vocal coaches consider her the best voice they have recently heard. Don't be afraid of this rabbit hole because it will be a journey you will love. Next up please explain to us how a 9 yr old Angelina Jordan performs "I Put A Spell On You". I watched The Fairy Voice Mother"s breakdown of this performance and found it to be fascinating. I want to hear your take on it. After that please analyze her 'I'd Rather Go Blind" where she is just sitting on a couch singing a song when she was 13yrs old. Then listen to KZ Tandingan doing "Rolling In The Deep" either from The Singer 2018 or from the WISH bus. Try one or both because they are both worthy of a listen. I think all of these are fascinating for a voice coach to analysis. I look forward to your next reaction and BE WELL. P.S. I loved it when something surprised you and you dropped the F bomb. Please don't ever change.

Hey Erika. 😊☺️☺️ 1st of all, thank you for your analysis, quite thorough, informative, and educational. I hope those aspiring singers were taking notes. 🤔🤔🤔 2nd, you mentioned she sounded like a bird. Coincidentally, Morissette is dubbed as Asia’s Phoenix. 😁😁😁 Last, I’m truly impressed on your Tagalog pronunciation as well as your singing. Would it be such a “crazy idea” for you to sing this song? I’m sure a lot of your subscribers as well as Morissette fans would love to hear you sing ‘Akin Ka Na Lang’. 😉😉😉

She'll be in Dallas on November 11 at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. Hope you can make a trip there. That's the closest one, her other tour dates are in Chicago, Virginia, and San Fran. I'll be there, you can prob organize a meetup with your subscribers should you decide to go. 💜💚💛

Erika, excellent of your music analytical of doing a secondary language in this rendition. Morissette's fan, especially those from Philippines are very happy to see a westerner rector's on passionately to butcher it in Tagalog and you did it so well. I would like recommendation two others Tagalog songs, sang by Morissette for your consideration of doing a rendition and analysing it. 1) Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw 2) Naririnig Mo Ba
