Ariana Grande's "Tattooed Heart" [LIVE ON THE HONDA STAGE] -- SINGER REACTS

This is my reaction to and analysis of Ariana Grande's performance of Tattooed Heart Live on the Honda Stage. This song is from her first album "Yours Truly," and it's great to see how much her sound has changed over the years. I am a jazz/R&B vocalist, saxophone player, music educator and vocal coach. I have two degrees in music that I acquired here in New Orleans and It is a pleasure to break down these very popular vocal performances to share with you! Ariana Grande is definitely one of my influences, she is notorious for extremely high, powerful mixed belts, fast riffs and runs and a beautiful, forward - resonating tone.

Erika, I know what you mean about your connection to her performance to this song. When I first saw her perform this song at the 2013 AMA's, I instantly fell in love with her vocals and have followed her growth since. Whenever I hear this song, it gives me warm nostalgic feelings about my past relationships. From your video, I have a better understanding of how Ariana is a master on mixing her voices up to showcase her vocals. I don't think Ariana in this case plans her runs that much, rather than it comes to her naturally to do the same thing everytime. It happens to me, whenever I am singing any song, and I want to do a fun run I end up doing the same thing just because it is what my body is used to. Not becuase I planned to, but because it just happened. I don't know, maybe I am wrong though.
