I’m sorry to have to tell you this but it’s not a cover of a 1960 song. It is the cover of a 1930s song. Please get your history right The House of the Rising Sun" is a traditional folk song, sometimes called "Rising Sun Blues". It tells of a person's life gone wrong in the city of New Orleans. Many versions also urge a sibling or parents and children to avoid the same fate. The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. The song is about a brothel in New Orleans. "The House Of The Rising Sun" was named after its occupant Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means "Rising Sun" in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874 when it was closed due to complaints by neighbours.

There's two types of singers... Note perfectionist, and Emoters... Note singers give you runs and riffs and climb the scales of a very wide vocal range with a soft or powerful voice, while emoters are ballad singers. They carry you off to the location the song was derived from and allow you to "FEEL" the journey..... Every once in awhile, you get someone who is BOTH. Capable of sleighing notes and bringing you on the journey..... Those are the singers a majority of us remember!! Thanks Erik! Very nicely done sir!

Erik. Wow. This sent shivers down my spine. I live in Georgia. When I was only 13 or 14 I went with my dad to New Orleans. He was a truck driver. We spent a weekend there a couple of times. A friend of mine that I knew who lived there had an old army jeep that he drove. He was only a year or two older than me. Well, on Saturday night he drove me to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Wow, how this old country boy's eyes were opened to the evils of this world. I'll never forget that. Mamas tell your children not to do what I have done. Cause I know, I'm one. What a timely warning. And one that should be heeded. Erik - I love your music, but this one struck home with me. Erik, my wife and I are praying for your health. We want you here with us. We love your music. Thanks Erik

It's merely the most popular recorded version of the song.

Erik, I love the fact that you stepped away from Skid Row and took a look at life, the future. I'm an old man, there is a lot of things I regret doing and even more things I regret NOT doing, not doing while I was young. You're at an age where you can look at things with a clean perspective, you can look at hiking, biking, climbing, going to the beach, the desert, the mountains, and enjoying things while you still can because you are the rare thing: Someone young who knows that the ability to enjoy things will eventually taper off until we're laying alone in a hospital bed, filled with regrets. You are gifted with a talent that surpasses that of typical vocal virtuosos, your songs have brought happiness and calm to millions of people and we greatly appreciate your gift that you share with us. No fooling, no kidding, your voice inspires and lifts our souls, our own lives which may be happy, sad, or merely blase. I am damn grateful that I found your channel, found your songs, and found your amazing voice. It's Thanksgiving in America, and you are a treasure that I am thankful I found on line.

💥...fängslande och beroende framkallande...lyssnar flera gånger dagligen och däremellan ringer låten i mina öron. Vid 64 år ålder har jag inte varit med om något liknande...helt fantastiskt bra version av ett klassiskt musikstycke.

My God. Is there anything you can't sing? This is amazing. I usually don't like covers, but you do them all so well it's impossible not to love you. I know your story, and you're an inspiration.

Wow! The haunting piano playing at the beginning completely fooled me! Having heard the 'original' Animals version from the early 60s, I thought to myself 'no one can touch that' and this version completely blew me away! The Animals was one of my favorite groups growing up in the 60s, far more than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, by far. THIS version is fantastic! Thank you for sharing it with us all! New subscriber!
