This is really one of the most unique channels on youtube. Sure we have people that are part of the profession reacting to highlights but i think youre one of the first who is at the top of their field giving us real insights into what some of the best people at what they do are thinking when theyre performing these incredible feats ourside of some BS generic PR campaign. Super cool thank you for making this channel for us volleyball fans shoji!

@ 4:15 Dave talks about everyone getting out of his way so he can take a free ball if he’s under it and I’d never noticed this before but at the beginning of the 1st set against France, Dave and Taylor are both under the free ball and Dave calls Taylor off and Taylor gets out of the way. Super interesting and something I definitely wouldn’t have noticed without this video

Wow I never knew Dave has this disability. My respect for him got even bigger. Good luck to the both of you for the upcoming Olympics and your new club team.

Thank you Erik for having Dave Smith on your channel and for always being so insightful! As a high school volleyball player with hearing loss, it is such an inspiration to see Dave Smith playing at that level on the court - it really makes me feel like I can go as far as everyone else despite my hearing. I can't wait to see you all in the olympics and to see you and Dave play together in the club season!

Thanks for bring on David! What an absolute rock he's been for Team USA over the years 🔥🔥🔥 His story has definitely inspired me! I love that he doesn't let hearing loss stop him from giving his best every time out on the court. Just a small example: I watched a match where one of his hearing aides fell out in the middle of the play and he just popped it into his mouth and kept playing. Zaksa's road to the finals wasn't easy but was a such joy to watch. And lol - David not being able to find anyone to celebrate with because they all collasped on the ground 😂

Love the fact that you have had so many teammates on here. The fun facts as you are interviewing so many of my favorites.💗 David is someone that I look up to because I am hard of hearing too. Was born that way as well. Knowing that he can play some extreme volleyball is great to see. Usually balance can be a factor in playing...but he makes it look so easy! Good luck in the olympics David! 💗

Love to watch your videos to know more about Volleyball! Side note..If this can bring any consolation to you guys... I'm also sad to see team USA not making it to the quarterfinals at Tokyo 2020. Was cheering so much for your team, even though I'm Singaporean LOL. You guys were up against Russia and Brazil in Pool B, and I was totally surprised by how well Argentina played that day, totally thought you guys had it in your pocket for that match. It wasn't a very favorable situation when France defeated ROC (another BIG SHOCKER), it would be so much better to be in Pool A actually LOL. I really believe that you guys deserved the spot at the quarterfinals. Excited to see your team's comeback in Paris! YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING, KEEP UP THE AMAZINGGGGG WORK! LOVE YOU GUYS 3000

When Erik has no pens, he has to improvise. My step-son has almost full hearing loss in one ear due to an illness as a baby. He went on to become a top soccer goalie for one of Penn State's satellite campuses and is a top-notch student in a really tough major. Super proud of him.

Smith is my favorite middle blocker from the US. For some reason, I prefer him to Holt or Lee and the other blockers on the team, though the other ones are said to be monsters on the court. Probably his overall performance from serving to striking impresses me so much.

Let us all remember smile we play match's and sets. Great to see David with you Eric and really letting those who do not play to understand what goes on in a match. David was also a setter prior to becoming a middle. I laughed 6"7 is not at all a small middle it gives David a better chance a getting up quicker than 6"10-11. Yes that makes sense if you play as I'm sure Dave will tell you. My hope is this Olympics one everyone stays safe! Then I Hope & Pray USA men and women bring home the Gold. When you start on fire and stay on there's no time for a slow start. Being patient and play each play then let it go to focus on next play. This was really great I hope more get to watch this video.
