I am English born, but of Russian Jewish, Russian Gypsy, English mix; but long ago met a beautiful girl from Co. Down. In November 1970, I visited her family with her, and we planned our lives together being madly in love. Later we became Jehovah's Witnesses, and in 1977 moved to the Northern part of Ireland to live. Never for one second have I regretted it. This song affects me as if I was born here. This is home, and my love for people in Ireland runs as deep as the Loughs and shores I love. I have lived in Co. Tyrone, Co. Derry, and Co. Down, and am often in Co. Donegal. I never want to leave. I love this land and its people as if they were my own, and I Love your voice singing it about it all Ann Marie.

every time I see her face, and hear the voice of the Angels on earth , that is Her voice, I fall in love with a woman I have never met. And yet, Like this song, she is so far away, too far to shout my adoration to the winds. Yet, here I am SHOUTING into the wind.

Although I don't think I could have Irish ancestors ... when first coming to Ireland, I felt like I belonged to this country, I'm in love with the country, its people, its landscapes, its music, everything, and I've come to learn several Irish instruments ... I wish it were all in my blood, in my veins, but anyway it's all in my heart and soul, as listening to Irish music always brings tears of emotion in my heart ... How magnificent is that !

Lisa, you don't have to be born in Ireland to feel Irish it's something that seeps inside you.I can tell by your comment that you're a lovely lady and real Irish people will embrace you, there are no strangers in Ireland only friends we haven't met, indeed I know some people who were born in Ireland but try to disguise it even to the extent of changing their accent.I have been away from Ireland for 57 years and have travelled quite a bit of the world and have never lost sight of who I am or my accent.I love Irish music and shed many tears listening to some of it.If you desire to be one of us we would love to have you.Welcome to the family Lisa..

I actually have a similar story. While I *do* have Irish ancestors, (according to my birthmom, may she rot in Hell.) When I was a young lad of 16 I first visited Ireland with my grandparents. Probably the one good memory I still can recall of my childhood. When the plane touched down in Dublin, I felt in my bones I was finally home. I don't know how I know, but sure enough I know. I've been from one side of this planet to the other, and never have I felt the like in all my days.

I want share something with you guys, which alot of people will associate with. I was born and have lived in England my hole life so far, but my parents are Irish. They are traditional and have raised me the Irish way :) When I go to Ireland to see my familey still over there, I am distraught coming back to England. I hate to leave. Something inside me knows Ireland is really my home, my calling. Something science will never understand, but something my heart understands perfectly. This song leaves the same impression on my spirit. Bless you Annmarie :)

I know exactly how you feel, I am American, but have a long lineage of Irish ancestors. When I visited Ireland, something just felt right in my heart that I was supposed to be there. I have visited most of Europe and never felt that feeling anywhere but Eire...I am very proud of my Irish heritage, and I have a longing in my heart to be back there before I pass from this world...
