Review: Samsung Jet 90 cordless stick vacuum + Clean Station dirt disposal

Vacuuming is a chore that many of us don’t look forward to, in part due to the hassle and fuss of getting out the vacuum, uncoiling or untangling hoses, and tripping over cords. When the job is done, there’s still the task of emptying all that dirt and dust into a garbage can, and then you have to put it all away again. It’s the sort of additional annoyance that might make you put off the chore.
Samsung has come to the rescue with what it says is an easy-to-use, no-hassle vacuum system that may change your mind about vacuuming.
The Samsung Jet 90 Cordless Stick Vacuum is a compact stick vacuum that with storage and charging base. They also have a solution for emptying the dustbin without releasing all that freshly vacuumed dust back into the air.
That’s the Samsung Clean Station, which is essentially a vacuum powered garbage canister… yes it’s a vacuum for your vacuum, designed to empty out your canister into a sealed bag so you don’t have to touch it.
I recently had the chance to go hands-on and have this vacuum in my home to test and review. I’ll show you how well it cleans, what it works well for, and what is doesn’t and how it combines with the Clean Station emptying bin and if you stick with me we’ll get into cost and whether or not I can recommend it for you.
First off this is a cordless, relatively lightweight stick vacuum, a device which is now way more popular than having an upright. Weighing in at 2.8 kg or about 6 pounds, it gets stored in a unique charging stand which I’ve seen referred to as the Z-Stand.
The Jet 90 comes with the main unit itself which also holds the special removeable dustbin, plus a single battery, and the Z station.
You’ll also get three different “beater bar” heads: The turbo action brush for regular cleaning. It comes with a 180-degree swivel head for easy direction changes, as well as the mini motorized tool for smaller spaces, vehicles or upholstry. You’ll also get the Soft Action Brush, with a microfibre roller made to trap dust plus anti-static silver threads to pick up tiny fibres when vacuuming hard floors.
Samsung also includes three tools for special tasks: The flexible extension which lets you change direction for hard to reach areas, the combination brush, and the crevice tool.
Samsung says the Jet 90 will work on hardwood, tile, and carpeting and has attachments for special surfaces and smaller areas.
The dustbin, including the multi-cyclone system, is fully washable and can be removed without removing the pipe from the body to allow you to tip out the dust.
One thing I noticed right away that I love, is that the vacuum turns on with a click and stays on until you click it off, meaning no need to constantly squeeze the trigger while using it.
To charge the Jet 90, you place it in the Z Station, a compact stand that is weighted in the base and slightly angled to avoid toppling. The Z Station also charges a second (sold separately) battery at the same time, ensuring that your Jet 90 is always ready for action.
Samsung claims the Jet 90 runs for 60 minutes without a recharge and while I didn’t tie it exactly, I’d say that feels about right, and it takes about 3.5 hours to charge fully. The battery should still hold 70% of its capacity after five years.
Important to note that the Clean Station will absolutely not work with the dustbin that comes with the Jet 90 itself.
It will only operate with the special dustbin canister which is included in the Clean Station package.
I run all the vacuums I test through the same tests… I run them on carpet, rugs and all types of floors, and vacuum up everything from fine flour to bigger cracker pieces.
The Samsung Jet 90 did a great job on carpet. I tested it side by side with another well known stick vacuum and found it was equally matched. It looked like it picked up a lot of pet hair and dirt.
On floors, the soft action brush did seem to trap dirt instead of scattering it, and I found it was able to pick up everything I threw at it.
The Mini motorized tool was also quite handy for cleaning the couch.
The Samsung Jet 90 is about average when it comes to noise level.
The Clean Station by comparison is quite loud when it’s running, but I’d say its comparable to the noise level of other automatic emptying bins.
Overall, the Samsung Jet 90 seems to be a pretty handy and powerful vacuum. I love that the trigger lets it run without me needing to squeeze it the whole time it’s running.
While it doesn’t have as many extra tools as some other vacuums, it has the important ones and it was all I felt like I needed.

Very nice overview of the product. Having just got mine I did NOT realize that the Clean Station uses an entirely different canister. So that means now I'll have tools with no place to store them and a canister to go with them. Not in any way ideal. Might send the clean station back given that. Just got the Jet 90 and over all love it. Got mine from Costco and it came with two batteries which was very nice. I have used the vacuum throughout the house and love having it as it solves a lot of issues I had with bigger vacs or my central vac which I tended to leave out a lot and trip over the long hose. The jet sits out of the way due to its convenience stand and I can just grab it to vacuum the hard floors that I have which seem to collect a lot of miscellaneous dirt especially wood dust from my shop if I was working in there and traveled back up into the house. I seem to be messy in the kitchen so it’s been very helpful with the various types of crumbs that end up on the floor there. I do wish it had a short extension hose to attach to the crevice tool and the brush to make it more convenient for cleaning shelves are taking out to the car. Not sure why Samsung missed on that one.

Hello Joe, I am considering to purchase the Jet 90 from Costco too because it comes with two batteries. I do not intend to buy the clean station as the special dust bin that comes with it is really too small, and it's not easy to find the replacement dust bags. Would you mind sharing your experience with this Jet 90 model, particularly your view on its dust bin design and how you empty it? I have noticed that the dust bin has to be detached from the handheld unit before it can be emptied. It also does not have a bottom flap or an easy empty push button like most Dyson or Shark models have. Do you find it difficult to handle and will the dust and dirt fly out from the bin when you detach it from the handheld unit? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I just got this and like it so far. It’s my first cordless vacuum so weight difference while vacuuming carpets is different for me compared to regular vacuums. Feel like I want to push it down a little compared to the weight of regular vacuum already does that. If that makes sense. Overall I like it. Three cats and picks up all cat hair. I got it on sale but probably would have not gotten it at the regular price. Normal price seems seriously marked up for what it is but it’s nice for sure. If on sale definitely go for it!

I don't have a problem with rugs at all , I think it is a great product work fabulous has excellent suction, wouldn't bother with cleaning station wast of time . Just clean it yourself.

With my Ruggable rug, I always have to set my Dyson to the lowest suction mode so it doesn’t try to pull it off of the base layer.

Whilst Dyson undoubtedly has the best cordless vacuums, I enjoy using Samsung jet 90 and think it does a decent enough job in my household collecting fine dust and hair. I do not think the telescopic retractable pipe is a selling point in fact it is an additional task to have to retract it each time when docking. The detachable bin is hygienic being washable although it does require more effort and time to clean and maintain. The Z station takes up some floor space but it is nice to be able to charge both batteries at the same time. Given that I got it on sale when it was 25% cheaper than Dyson V10 and almost half the price of Dyson V15 - I think this was a good buy.

hi, can you tell me what the battery indicators look like when it is fully charged? I just got a jet 75 and the 3 LEDs stay lit when it is fully charged, but the owners manual states that the LEDs dims when it is charged. Do I have a defective battery? thanks.

The vacuum is great but don't get the clean station! The replacement bags have been unavailable (perhaps discontinued) for several months now. Once you've used up the bags included with the machine, you're out of luck!

I actually had the same question because I just purchased this vacuum and it's being delivered tomorrow and I was fortunate and able to order an extra five bags from Samsung. I have two pomskies that I vacuum up around on a daily to every other day basis and I'll be posting a review on Samsung's website as in how many times I put that cup into the clean station before I head to change the bag. I'm also going to base the test on the cup being only three quarters full so it properly works.

I own this vacuum but what disappointed me is that it doesn;t clean my car as good as i expect. The floor in my car is made of synthetic fabrics which has some'hair' and the vacuum doesn't really clean it, i tried all of the brushes, also maximum power and effect was stil poor. Nevertheless it's prettier than dyson :D and washable with water so it's not that bad.
